K9 Unit

Nordique's coming back?

They better use the classic uni over the proposed one that evaporated with the move to Colorado.

yeah the one with the Wolf face was pretty lame. a classy update to the old fleur de lis would be awesome.

Classic update not necessary. They nailed it the first time.

Except for the fact that everything was screened on for a long time. Gamers that come up for auction now look terrible with all the graphics peeling off.

A little sublimation would fix that. The problem is that there will be a push to have an "updated" look if they get a team.

True. I was talking about the design more than the construction.

As long as it's the jersey from the last couple years with the outlining on the numbers I'd be fine. Then I could add one to join the Sundin and Nolan ones.

Getting ahead of ourselves are we? The Avalanche still own the rights to the name and logos. The only city with a relocated team that would be able to bring back their name, logo and jersey would be Hartford. Colorado might release it, they might not.

Some cash up front and a percentage of the merchandise would probably be enough to get them to release it. I also though the Whalers rights had been turned over to the city of Hartford.

I'm still very skeptical about all that Quebec Nordiques returning to the NHL with the same name or under a different name and uniforme. There is a group that is very much involved in all of this looking to build a new arena.. at a price of approximatly 248 millions of dollars or so. This is a lot of cash and I'm not sure they would have sufficient support, at least financially to achieve such a feat. Yes Quebecor Media is rumoured to be highly interested in buying a franchise as they did bid on the Montreal Canadiens and they could probably get away with building a new arena and buying a team for approximatly what they had bid to purchase the Montreal Canadiens. However, would there be sufficient fan and corporate support to make the Nordiques a financially successful franchise or would they go through financial hardships.. once more? Yes there is a salary cap but at 56 millions US when your revenues are in Canadian dollars, it may prove to be difficult to make ends meet. If they succeeded, they would more or less be somewhat similar to the Oilers. They would either break a small profit per annum or lose a little..

It would be great to see the Nords back. The whale and even the jets. It would take me back, but from what I'm hearing is that realistically there are way to many hurdles for that to happen any time soon. Same with Winnepeg. The same problems that caused the move still exist.

Funny thing is, the NHL didn't consider those problem when putting a team in ATL for a second time and now considering a second try in KC. I guess their trying to recapture the magic when Denver got their second try at an NHL team.

This idea of 'growing' the game by putting franchises in places like the desert, or the beach seems ridiculous to me. I don't understand the reasoning in not putting teams in places that would work, maybe I'm still butt hurt over Balsillie not winning tho..

I hear Toronto is going to move to Quebec City... ^_^

lol thats awesome.

if the tickets are cheaper over there it might be worth it. as it stands right now, its more fun watching a marlies game or an OHL game.
