Recommended Posts

Hello together,

I want to buy the vapor X40 skates as soon as possible, so has anyone experiences with the skates?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Chris

I bought these skates over the summer after months of trying on many other models. I am very happy with the X:40's so far and would definitely recommend them to you if you have a Vapor foot. These fit great right out of the box and even better after a bake. There was no pain in my foot even during my first skate.

I weigh a bit on the light side so these skates are plenty stiff for me. Great power transfer, stability, protection and looks.

If I had my choice, I'd probably go with the Vapor XXXX on close out rather than the X40

same, as long as the correct size is available. I wouldnt wear the wrong size skate just because its "better"

the XXXX are a great skate, but depending on a person's weight it might not allow for enough forward flex.

Originally I was going to get the XXXX but they were just too stiff

Well there isn't a specific weight I would say you'd have to be to get the XXXX. There are ways around to getting a proper forward flex you're a light weight. One thing you can do it not lace up the top eyelets which I know many people do. Also, its good to consider if you're going to be able to benefit from higher end skates.

i.e. if you're a beginner, then most likely you won't be able to feel the power transfer that the skate is able to provide or take advantage of its stiffness on hard turns etc.

Sorry to bump this, but I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the idea of using the Vapor X40 boot for inline hockey?

I mainly play competitive roller hockey and I am in need of some new skates. I'm not really happy with the current options out there for inline skates, so I am considering buying these and putting a chassis on them. I'd using them indoors on sport court. Has anyone done this?

I know a guy who did that to a pair of x20. He said it worked out fine, but he wished he got the x30 to do it instead

that's weird considering those two skates are pretty damn identical (especially if you take off the tuuk).

you'll enjoy it with x40s. go for it.

That's what I thought. Maybe stiffness difference or something. I think x40's would be perfect

I'm probably going to end up doing X:40s too.

I am not happy with the Bauer inlines going from the 25 to the 60. I think they skipped a big level in there.

Anyways, if you do them, let me know how you like 'em.

But if you look at the specs for the R:25, the quarter material is listed as tech mesh which is on the higher end X50 and X60, and I think it's the stuff that the original one90's were made of. More heatmoldable, lighter, and stiffer than basketweave nylon (?).

So even though the model number jumps from R:25 to R:60, it may be irrelevant. The quarters on the X:40's are listed as being made of basketweave nylon which is would technically be a step down (material wise anyways) from the R:25.

So if you fit vapors and need an inline, I think the R:25's are a pretty good deal at $250, considering X:40s would cost more than that, esp. w/ cost of chassis, wheels, and bearings if you don't already have them and at the very least approx. $20 for the a LHS to convert them if you can't do it himself or have a hookup.

Well, from the times I have checked them out, I don't think the RX25s seem to be all that nice.

That's just my opinion though, and this thread isn't even about them. lol

Sorry, was making a suggestion to the above poster. Wasn't sure if he'd considered the X:25, which only so far as I can infer from Bauers specs, I might assume R:25's to be the better value for a roller player rather than converting an X:40.

Felix if I remember correctly your current skate is a Tour and that you like the fit. That being the case I would expect that a supreme model skate would fit you better than a Vapor. Maybe a a close out One70 or One 75.
