I'm no Cincinnati fan, but I just can't find any reasonable justification for denying an undefeated BCS conference team a shot at the title.

To me, the allure of Boise State has faded. I think TCU is the much better team. Either way, everyone loses if they meet each-other in the Fiesta Bowl as the projections suggest; we don't learn a damn thing about BCS vs. non-BCS undefeated teams.

And that's exactly why it will happen that way.

I've been following Cincy all year and I really think they deserve a shot. I think we all know that's not gonna happen though. If only Colt McCoy had lofted that ball a bit more when he threw it out of bounds.

Are you implying that he didn't know how much time was left?! :o

If Ricki Stanzi had stayed healthy, Iowa would have gone undefeated too. What little faith I have in the NCAA makes me believe that would have been enough to prove the need for a playoff.

Thanks for reminding me...

last year boise played tcu and lost 16-17 and both teams go undefated this year. on top of that no one wants to play boise state. why because they just flat out win.

the bcs format needs to change. playoff is the way to go. if money is the issuse, what would the extra win or go home games do? the atmosphere would be unreal. esp the title game.

But it doesn't protect the conferences that currently control the BCS system. The only way one of those teams get to play in the BCS title game is if they are highly ranked to start the year and then run the table. As long as they start low enough in the polls it will be virtually impossible for them to make the title game.

You're right that no one wants to play Boise State, but my question is why would anyone want to? Its a lose-lose for whoever they play. Look at Oregon. If Oregon would have beat them this year it would have been overshadowed by their other wins. Beating Boise doesn't necessarily help Oregon. But because they lost to them it almost ended their season. Boise is in a real catch-22. They'll never be respected because they play shit teams, and to get good teams to play them they need respect. Until big time programs start playing Boise, they'll just be considered a good, not great program. There is simply too much at stake for a contending team to play them during their non-conference games.

That wasn't the only problem though... KO out of bounds and the horse collar tackle is what killed The Blackshirts. I was pulling for them to win too.

Sorry.

Is he slated to be back for the bowl game? I forgot what his injury was.

Severe ankle sprain..He'll be back for the bowl game. I think he had a surgical procedure done as well, to speed up the healing process. I'm guessing all Iowa's starters will be back and healthy for the bowl game besides the #1-2 RBs and starting CB that missed the entire season due to injuries. I'm surprised Iowa went 10-2 with a 4th and 5th string RBs in the backfield.

Lack of offense ultimately did the Blackshirts in. Granted, Texas has some great athletes on "D" but Nebraska should have converted a few more drives into TDs rather than rely on their superb kicker.

The whole issue is about money. College football has changed, thanks to ESPN and the BCS. The bowls are a profit making venture, why lose money on a 9-3 team that travels poorly when you can invite a 8-4 or 7-5 team that brings 30k fans each year?

^ Beat me to it. Hell of a cinderella season.

Yup. Why do you think 6-6 Iowa State is getting paid $1,100,000 to play in the Independence.com bowl, while Missouri at 8-4 gets paid $500,000 to go to the Texas Bowl? Because last time Iowa State played in Tempe they brought 38,000 fans with them...

Alright, another Cincy guy. Where do you live/play?

Back on the BCS note, the guys who really get jobbed are the Bearcat players. They go undefeated and now they have to face Florida with a gutted coaching staff. All signs point to Kerry Coombs coaching the Sugar Bowl and that dude was coaching high school three years ago (granted one of the best high schools in the country).
