Easton S19 helmet

Recommended Posts

Looks hella ugly.

Anybody know about Reebok though? The 8K is amazing, but will they have a new one to compete with all these other helmets coming out? My old 8K is about to expire, lol.

I don't know but i hate that a compony will keep sendin out the same shit with a different logo or no change at all and charge a bigger price because its the 09 model instead of the 08 model and just not inovate any new technology but keep riding the old crap (cough cough pumps cough cough) but it is a great helmet nonetheless but i wish they would make something truely new but might give this a shot is it worth it though for the way my head is growing as a kid since its not as adjustable

I tried one on in the shop this afternoon. Getting past how light it is, I decided to take a few knocks on the helmet while wearing it. It felt a bit too hard. I didn't really feel the impact getting dispersed through the helmet. I wonder what anyone else's impression of that test is.

The pumps are a good feature IMO. With the improved boot of the 11k, they are very tempting haha

A few pics, including the inside. The helmet is incredibly light, and pretty much uncrushable. Had my brother punch me in the head a few times. Barely felt it.

looks pretty close to the s9, which is what im currently in. I imagine it fits similar too, which I like. The only thing i think me as well as a lot of people are worried about is the hat-style adjustment in the back. Does it feel very strong?

Who has them for sale

Read the two posts below.

There were 100 guys that got the demo, I guess 101 with JR's fit issue... and one popped up on eBay, probably more to come.

thats the problem with a rigid body design... shittier for lighter impacts, but may turn out great for a hard hitting impact that actually crushes the cells in the foam, it's spread it to more cells, permitting more energy absorption. but on low energy impacts, that foam will transmit a little more than vn and/or softer shells.

That's not a problem. The hard impacts are the one that give you concussions or broken skulls. VN does not protect against those had ones nearly as well.

Dave's in Blaine Mn has 3 on the shelf for sale $150. 2 Mediums and 1 small. Obviously the LG has not shipped yet.

minor impacts could very well result in concussions. I'm not expecting them to use VN, i was citing example. you need a helmet that can protect against both, because ANY impact to the head has a chance for a concussion.

Buddy of mine who works at Easton brought a large one to our last game. I concur, this thing is freakishly light.

I only checked it out for a split second, but I remember wondering how the heck it could stand up to some violent impact...

I tried it on at an LHS tonight and yeah those are the two first thoughts in my head. First it was lighter than a feather. Second - it feels like it wouldn't protect anything.

But logic prevails - the thing is one solid piece, so energy should be dispersed a lot more evenly. It sounds to me like this SHOULD be one of the safest helmets out there. Although I really wonder how comfortable it will be on impact compared to others with comfort foam.

Overnight update - I actually had a good night thinking about this helmet. I am now drooling at getting one - IF there are no issues with a cage's weight. But has ANYONE put a cage on it? I tried fitting some cages to the S19 in the LHS and couldn't find a suitable match. Maybe an S19 specific cage will be available?

The looks, I could care less about. It's the protection and performance (weight) that have me sold.

Expensive yes. Expensive.... yes.

I can live with that too considering it's my head.
