Just wondering if anyone has gone from 9k's to one95's. How different was the fit, size and volume wise. Unfortunately the [closest] shop i go to is 2 hours away so i dont have an opportunity to try skates on often.... thanks

I have some '07 9k's and just picked up a pair of one95. So far they feel great. Didn't experience any volume issues at all. Both are great skates and quite stiff. Very responsive either way. I'm using the same size in both pairs.

So how are you liking them so far Jesse? Besides the blister

Love the skates. Really light and comfy minus the blisters. I'm currently wearing them with out the top eye done up because I'm use to my low cut graf's. I'm slowly going to adjust to the top eye done. I have only had 3 ice times with them so far from broke in yet.

may I ask why? I've been wearing One95 with a top eyelet undone for well over a year, and while the skates have gotten a bit softer I still don't see any reason lacing them all the way up, but I might be missing something hence the question.

Thoughts?

re the size question above - I stayed same size in XXXX & One95, but they were also both D so maybe it's irrelevant...

when you do up the top lace the boot is going to be more supportive/stiffer in the upper ankle. The way I skate I found it restricted my ankle from flexing in a way I wasn't use to. I didn't really want to tweak the way I skate during a game.

i don't do up the top eyelet as it seems to reduce my forward mobility as though i can't even bend my knees. havent had any problems with the one eyelet left out

Just got mine in today. Amazing skates. I think they are lighter than my Vapor XX's.

Baked them up today and got them shaprened. Went for a skate tonight amazed with my fat feet, that I have no blisters or pressure points. Top notch skates for sure

I wear a 10.5D Vapor XXX. It is tight but w/ some punching in the forefoot it is liveable (likely needed a EE but these were closed out, last pair at my LHS $250 last fall). I can fit a pencil and a hair more behind my heel w/ my toes all the way to the front. Pencil test on the instep is a slight fail at the 4th eyelet.

I have my eye on a pair of used 10.25D one95s (prostock obviously). My LHS only had 11D, width seemed good, obviously way too long but wanted to see how the general feel was. The 11 I could easily get two fingers behind

My question is will the extra volume make up for the 1/4 size down and should I go for the 10.25D or should I buy a 10.5D?

Yeah, the quarter size down will likely be negated by the volume gain but pro stock, you can never know. Anyway, I liked my one95s so much I grabbed some one75s on closeout, and they're kick ass too.

so i've only been on my one95 for 3 or 4 skates and I just noticed a big nasty gash from a skate on the outside middle of my boot. its about 2 inches long and pretty deep. How can I go about giving this a quick fix? Anyone else know how this will affect durability or warranty?

I've had mine since they were released and they are starting to show it. I have one gash on the side for a while and it hasn't affected the performance in any way (I'm on the ice 7-8 times a week).

As for the warranty, you're SOL there. The damage is from normal wear and tear and won't be covered.

You're missing nothing. Per my experience, One95s give you an excellent support in the forefoot area and not lacing the top eyelets gives you more forward flex.

Has anyone tried punching out the hard shell of the One95?

I have hard to fit feet. Very wide, pretty high volume. But the big thing is that I have bones that stick out on both my feet, left MUCH worse than the right, but I get huge pressure and pain on these bones. They are above my arch and about the area just below where the fourth and fifth eyelets are on the skates, sort of right at the Bauer logo on the boot.

I have been working to try to fit some Graf G70s, but even those I fail the pencil test with and get lace bite. We've got the bone issue solved through punching, but still need them wider in the forefoot and now I'm having trouble getting my heel locked in.

I tried on some One95s due to people saying how big the volume is, they feel pretty good. Still need a bit more width even with a wide, but I pass the pencil test ok. But do have a lot of pain on the bones, so the shells will need to be punched both there and at the forefoot.

How do these hard shells take to fairly significant punching out? Couple of the LHS I talked with advised against these and suggested the Grafs due to the softer boot for punching. But even the 70s I dont have the volume or a good heel fit, so not sold on those even though I can get the width and bone issue solved.

Hesitant to go with the One95s since the shops dont want to punch them without me buying so they dont screw up the boots for another if they dont work. But much of the rest of the boot feels decent.

So, short question made long, how do these boots take to punching? Do you guys think they might work? Next step would be full custom.

Funny you should ask about punching b/c I called my LHS last night to ask the same thing. Actually called my good friend who works there...he asks one of the owners if they can be punched, guy says "no, its a full composite so you can't."

Completely untrue.

Alive is a microfiber, with heat and pressure, changes shape...guess what? Punching involves heat and pressure.

Oh I certainly believe you...I was just telling jsykes that my LHS told me the exact same thing so there must be some uninformed employees/owners out there.

I wasn't sure I'd need it but I wanted to ask. I needed the outside forefoot on each of my XXXs punched, they are D and so are the one95s I bought. If I recall the one95s are a touch wider so hopefully it won't be an issue (since I can envision it being a pain to have them do it, for obvious reasons).

Once again MSH proves itself to be invaluable...thanks for the info JR.

The one95s are definitely wider than the xxx. I remember trying to put on a pair of my friends xxx in like 8E, it was a no go.

Thanks JR. I'll be speaking with them again on Monday, I have a pair set aside there and will work with the fitter then. I tried them on and the width and volume feel like some of the best of all I've tried, just my pesky bone. So hopefully they can work with that and make them work for me.

If not, I'm calling you and looking at something full custom cause I'm sick of trying to make off the shelf stuff work. LOL
