Best Low end OPS

Recommended Posts

Clearout is the only way to go! Just recently got a sweet deal on a Vapor XXXX.

How much did you pay for yours?

I got mine for $100, then I sold it for $130 :P

On the giant the Bauer Vapor XXXX is $99. Is this the same as the Nike Bauer XXXX? Or were the sticks made differently?

Should be the same...If anything you want just Bauer, Nike only ruins things.

I have to agree that that a high end two piece set up, is the best way to go for the budget minded gear whore.

How many of us on here buy new sticks because the blade went vs the shaft went.

I have 10 high end OPS laying in a pile broken at the blade, I am done with them.

So my best advice is, buy a mid to high end shaft (last year clearance is best) and buy the $30-50 blades when they go, you will get better performance than the low end OPS and when they go, you have to buy another $80 OPS.

(In Canada, Sportcheck/hockey experts is buy 1 shaft/blade get the 2nd one 50% off)

I'd follow the advice here...either get a two piece or a yr or two old high end stick on leftover. I picked up some Reebok 7k pro stock sticks for $35ea at Philbricks back in November. That's hard to beat!

You guys get such ridiculous deals sometimes.

The Vapor XXXX is still like $200+ everywhere I look, with the exception of Ebay, and then when I get on to Ebay, IF they ship to Canada, the cost of shipping usually kills the deal.

What if you keep an eye out on ebay for a nice 2 piece? I just got an Easton Ultralite with ST blade for $30 after shipping. Saw a couple Z Bubbles for 30-40 bucks as well. Combo that with a decent comp blade and you are set.

I really liked the NBH Vapor XXV; great price for a decent stick. It was light, the stick 'um wasn't too grippy and it felt pretty balanced (for me at least). I don't know if it's really a low end OPS, but rather a low priced OPS since it's been out for a while.

I would say 2 pieces are getting phased out, I went to Sport Chek today and looked at their selection and they only had the Warrior Swizzle shaft for seniors, but for juniors they had a bunch of old ultra lite/zbubbles.

I'm looking for a new shaft, probably the Easton ST or the Reebok 8K. I can get either for $99

I'll get more info on the Winnwell GX-8 today. Had a quick intro to it yesterday and was VERY impressed! 490g, great balance, 100% carbon, very TPS like, GREAT look!

Is there a MSRP yet?

I didn't get an MSRP on it, but, should be in the area of $110, depending upon the dealer, so, maybe not a "low end stick" but more of a mid-priced OPS.

To be honest, IF I decided to sell sticks (which I have no plans to at this time), I'd be bringing this stick in...

That's good to hear. Not everyone has $200 to spend. Plus I trust and respect your opinion on such topics.

Easton SE6 is alright, its pretty light. It didnt hold up very well for me though, I broke it pretty fast.

Synergy 300s have lasted a long time for me, but they are on the heavier side. Same with the s5, decent stick.

I would be willing to try some cheaper sticks from Bauer like the one55, but I can never find a p02 (getz/lidstrom) in any lower end sticks other than Easton, and even thats tough. Does Bauer even offer the p02 anymore?

Any opinions as to whether the Easton S11 is a decent low-end stick for the money?

t expect a pro level twig but for $75 it does the job.
