UDel is one of my top schools I am interested in going to next year, and this was a second thought to me after looking at their website.

I noticed that in all the pictures up there, all the players had Bauer 4000 helmets without the side logo and Harrow Gloves in UDel colors.

I also noticed in all the pictures, every player was using a Bauer/NikeBauer stick.

Does anyone know if they are sponsored/get discount or pro equipment from Bauer...specifically Pro Stock Sticks?

They aren't NCAA Div. I, they are ACHA Div. I, but claim "a nationally ranked collegiate club program"

The pictures I was looking at are here:

Thanks guys.

They get the gloves made custom for the team, I'm pretty sure they get those free or for a small fee. (I'm a rapper)

And I see a couple of Easton's and Reeboks in some of the pics so not all bauers, maybe just the style at that school.

Well, I'm not saying that any of this is specific to UDel. As someone that's played and coached in ACHA and also works in Higher Ed, I've come to learn a few things and thought I could just add some thoughts.

Many teams at the D1 ACHA level do team orders and keep some equipment in house. For example, a team orders 25 Blue helmets (paid for by dues or University funding), puts the stickers on, assigns helmets to their players, and they stay within the program or are updated. A lot of that stuff is dictated by the funding allocated to the team. For one, it promotes consistency within the team- no random colors or colors that are different types of blue (navy, royal, powder, etc). Furthermore, some schools will give funding to teams (ACHA teams are generally a recognized student group or given money from athletics, for the most part) that dictates how they can spend it. Some places see buying certain equipment- usually helmets - a nessisary expense to make sure everyone has sufficient protection. Or, the players are told "these are the helmets we wear, if you are picked for the team you need to pay (whatever) for the following" Harrow also has a relationship with many teams in D1 ACHA.

Explore the ACHAhockey.org website to learn more about the league... it's not joke, they do a ton of great stuff around the country and internationally.

If UDel is a place you're interested in- or really any school for that matter, ask them what kind of support do they receive from the University. Some places you're given some gear, other place no but you pay less dues, some teams have an e-board you can get involved with, access to athletic trainers for one-on-one development, and so on. Those factors may help your decision in picking an institution that's supportive for your academic and hockey/athletic growth.

I play ACHA Div 1 for a rival team of Udel.

They get their gloves for free, everything else they pay for maybe besides their buckets and pants....they actually used to have the michigan helmets but don't do that anymore. Some other schools in the ACHA especially the top programs don't pay for much. I know at my school we get everything except for skates.

See you're from Happy Valley. Assume you play for the Icers? If so I went to school there. Fun to watch them play. Still as dominant today as 17 years ago.

I play in the ACHA at one of the 'nationally ranked collegiate club programs', and we got RBK 8K helmets, and CCM Vector 10.0 breezers and gloves last year. We get our other protective equipment, skates, and sticks at a team discount. We also have a GPA incentive from one of our major sponsors - 3.0 - 3.25 = $100 off our next stick purchase, 3.25 - 3.50 = free OPS of our choice, and 3.5 and higher = free pair of skates. I'm sure each program is different, but I guess this gives you an idea...

I'm assuming all the programs pay for their equipment somehow. I'm guessing through various fund raising efforts and so on.

Teams pay for all equipment. There are team discounts that mostly get run through local pro shops. Harrow and other smaller manufacturers may go direct to increase business or if they have no exposure in local retail.

I attend UDel and I also noticed that the pant colors don't quite match with the blue in the jerseys... The school color blue is more like the pants than the jerseys though.

Our ACHA DIII team gets these. B) As well as other random Warrior sticks.

(It also helps that one of players interns with Warrior)
