Chinese Food before hockey game...

Recommended Posts

Sushi is a totally different world...very good but I wouldn't like the fish burps. More after hockey than before.

When I make it at home, I steam the broccoli, cook whole grain rice, and fry the chicken in a little bit of oil. Much more filling.

Ate chinese (dinner w/ the fam) before my pick up game last Friday...Let me just say it was brutal. I was sluggish, burping up garlic flavor, and G.D. was I thirsty!

Just a pick up game so no harm done...except to my poor bowels. Never again.

I made the mistake of a fish and chips lunch Saturday before my 10:30pm beer league game.

Same as above, I've never been more thirsty during a game. I thought with that much time I'd be okay, but the taste of grease and cod during play is no good.

(i know it's not chinese food, but the greasy factor is the same)

All I know is that if I had eaten chinese before my last game I would have died. We had three defencemen and I probably played about 35 minutes of a 40 minute game. Had an 8 minute shift to start the third. Not killer but I normally jump up in the play and have to push myself to be a defensive defenceman. Just glad I had the nice gatorade an hour before (like the commercial recommended!)

i had chinese once before a private dropin and played awesome and felt great. I had just a basic sweet and sour chicken with white rice but felt really good out there. Ate about 1.5 to 2 hours before playing. Last night had a small porkchop some mashed potatoes and cauliflower and felt horrible.

"blowing mud"

Lol... have not heard that term before. But hey, the wife had a better deal going in her 5th grade classroom a week ago. She had a couple kids come up and tell her a boy in the class pushed down another kid and was acting like he was teabagging the other kid. She didn't know what that meant... and asked the other 5th grade teacher who is also a close friend. The other teacher about died when my wife asked her what it meant. I told my wife she needs to bookmark urbandictionary.com and use it for timely references. ;)

LOL except for a few dishes, you know that most of this 'Chinese food' you guys eat are not really Chinese right? :P

And it's never as sickly sweet as most take out joints.

I eat Chinese before games, hell, it's not like I'm going to get slower :)

Really, the only time a meal bothered me was when I had wings and burgers before a game...

Eat whatever doesn't upset your stomach, you aren't getting your energy from anything you ate a couple hours before a game anyway.

thats what I figured

Uuuugh!!!! Why don't you just swallow one of those Whyle E. Coyote/Road Runner anvils before you play?

LMAO

ACtually the chineese food didnt kill me too much. I still drank mad water before and during game .

and by the way Kung Pow chicken with the nuts is nasty
