Heatley a skating billboard

Recommended Posts

By the way, Heatly was injured last night, he`ll be off the ice for quite some time. He got shot in the eye by Dani Brière. He couldn`t see anymore on the eye that was hit and his cheek is fractured.

There is also a post in the NHL section.

I just read through the tread again. To clear some things up:

In Switzerland there are four big hockey shops:

Interhockey: Carries all THC products (Sponsoring: Bern, Lugano, Ambri ...)

Ochsner: Bauer, Nike, Inno and some other brands (Sponsoring: Zurich clubs)

TFS: Easton and some other brands (Sponsoring: Davos, Zug, Rapperswil)

Wuethrich: TPS and Mission (Sponsoring: Langnau)

The clubs are bound to those shops and have to label their equipment accordingly (Thornton has to put Easton stickers on his gloves, Heatley CCM stickers)

Our pants indeed have Velcros on them, to put the ads on (I can snap a pic of mine if somebody`s interested)

The flame helmet is the top scorer helmet, along with the helmet the top scorer wears a special jersey.

The idea of spraypainting the holders to neon green isn`t that bad at all, I mean think about it, that way you can always identify your players, even in "high traffic" situations. The Lugano players for exemple wear all red gloves and play with red sticks.

By the way, Heatley is back on the ice, he now wears a bigger visor. Thornton will most probably be banned for some games, because he attacked a goalie during a break, knocking him out with a blow to the back of the head.

Nope, these stores are not related, just the same name. The hockey store Ochsner is somewhere in the outskirts of Zurich, while Ochsner Sport is in every bigger city.

How long ago was it when there were no ads on the dashers and the ice. I think owners are open to more advertising avenues, although it is going to be a little harder in the NHL to get advertising on the jersey. Partly because none of the other Major leagues do (if everyone still considers the NHL one of the big 4), but mainly because people would rather have clean jerseys.

I don't ming seeing the ads on uniforms and I realise that the ticket prices may not fall, but it might help at least keep them from rising?

yeah prehaps if the NHL decides to go all out advertasing like in the euro leagues the strike be over?..

No that wouldn't solve it, but it may be an issue when they decide to even try and resolve the problems.

The owners may have to declare it as "hockey related revenue" if they put ads on the jersyes.

I was on some random comedywebsite with "funny"pics and other stuff and i saw this hockeypic and clicked it. Well, obviously, its not funny but check out the skates.

I actually like this billboard style, but this one even impressed me:

Adverts on the skates, ewwww.

Nevermind the advertisements. What kind of physical play do they teach over there? Leading a check with your jock ala #39?

Once I took a friend to his first (and last with me!) hockey game and he grumbled all night about commercialism. He didn't like the ads on the boards and on the ice. That was here in the States! No wonder they skate so fast, they don't want to be seen standing still! Don Cherry must have a field day with this.

Pretty much all hockey in Europe is like that. Or atleast what I've seen.

I remember seeing a picture of Tuukka Rask with "Sunny Trading" or something writtin ALL OVER his pads. I guess they bought them for him :D. Sunny Trading (I think that was it) was writtin horizontally down his pads, on his blocker, and on the wrist part of his glove. And not small-the entire reebok logo was gone and in its place, ads.

Sven, where do you play and for what team? Got any pics? I'm interested to see what your team looks like with the whole skating billboard thread going on.

Here's a shot of Jan Lundell, HIFK goalkeeper. Very typical in SM-liiga to have ads on the goalie pads, and sometimes on the stick as well.
