Reebok 10k vs 6k shin pads

Recommended Posts

If you don't like the cross strap just remove it and use elastic shin straps or use shin guard tape. I used to cut off all the straps on my new shin pads if they didn't feel right and do that. Now I use a combination of both strap systems.

In the market for some new shins as my Hustlers cracked a knee cap. I was considering the 10K or 6K. I've heard that they are a little wider at the ends as I wear my shins over the tongues and the Hustlers were a bit narrow there. Anyone else here have any other experiences with either of these and feedback?

Thanks for the feedback. Anyone know how these two models or Reebok in general run lengthwise compared to Bauer or Warrior shins? Same, longer or shorter for the same size?

Been very happy with my 6k's, they ONLY fit over the tongues, very wide at the bottom.

I second that... but that's why I bought mine. Wanted a slightly wider and bulkier pad than my old Bauers. Saying that, the 6k are a quality bit of kit. So comfy, easy to skate in and decent value for money.

I had One95's and the Reebok 6k's stock came a little bit lower on the boot. The liner is adjustable though so I moved the outer piece up about 1/2" and it works great.

2010 rbk shin pads are probably some of the worst ever.

I have the 8k, it's basically what jofa offered back in the days plus some very questionable "new" features.

There are 2 types of shins :

Bulky (calf protection, more wrapping) = 10k and 6k the 2 models are basically the same

Non bulky (no calf protection, supposedly lighter) = 8k and 4k same shit as well

I honestly think that the 6k and 4k are the best in the line, thinner strap system, slightly simpler liner, simpler overall design, lighter.. Also for me they just feel a lot better.

They are what you expect from a shin pad. 8k, 10k are really the same models + useless added features.

Grab some jofa on ebay .. you'd be better off this way

Or if you want something similar to the 10k, 6k -> bauer pro series

Really because I got a (very) good deal on those 8k that I ended up with them

I ordered some 10k (LHS don't carry) and they run longer than my old Bauer and Warriors. Fit will over the tongue but come down to the 2nd eyelet. Is that length ok?

The bottom of the plastic comes to the 2nd eyelet. The padding is fine. I've never used shins that came down that far and just wanted to confirm they won't be problem before I use them and can't return.

If the bottom of the shin goes down to the 2nd eyelet and it wraps around the sides of the boot's cuff will that be ok or will it end up shifting during play and causing proper fit issues? Where exactly should they come when wearing over the tongue?

Thats gonna be a personal preference issue. I just got the 10k's had 9950 jofas for years always wear em to the top of the second eyelet.

Anyone here think that the plastic buckle where you loop the bottom strap sucks? Mine snapped as I was pulling the bottom strap to get a tighter fit. Just wondering if people experienced similar problems

Yeah, the buckles suck. Both of mine broke within the first month of use (3-4 times per week), not while dressing, but during the course of play. I just thread the straps through the other unbroken part of the buckle (the permanent side) - it fits in there fine and that part is strong enough to last.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. I wasn't even pulling excessively either, I guess I pulled at a wrong angle and out it snapped.
