Hart finalists

Crosby will probably take it. His Rocket trophy will have swayed a lot of voters, and he wasn't that far from the point lead. I'd love for Sedin to win it but I think he's got too many things going against him. I'm also a little surprised neither Miller nor Bryzgalov was nominated.

Goalies are left off of the Hart for the same reason pitchers are left off of the MVP in baseball. Since they have their own trophy they don't get consideration for the overall MVP. I'm not saying it is right or wrong but that is just what happens.

This is why I think Sid is the Most Valuable to his team (that is the defination, isn't it?)

Sedin(love the guy), even though his bro only played 63 games, he had about the same pts per game 1.36 & 1.34 respectively. Making improvements for sure, but his D still leaves alot to be disired.

Ovie, 1.51 pts per game, but he has Backstrom(love this kid) averaged 1.23 pts per game. Plays good D and back checks.

Sid, 1.34 pts per game, Guerin .57 pts per game. Plays good D and back checks.

Ovie is still the best (regular season) player in the league and Henrik is awesome, but the Pens go where Sid goes.

Of course my whole argument could be mute, just because Gretz had Kurri, does that not make him the MVP during the 80's? of course not.

Then how come the Penguins record is below .500 when Malkin is out of the lineup? Also if you're saying Sedin's defense is lacking then you haven't been paying attention for the last 5 years. Sedin has always been considered an elite two way player. Up until Kesler and Burrows emerged as players the Sedins were Vancouvers top penalty killers and they did a fine job of it.

I'd say it goes to Sedin simply because he really carried the Canucks in the fall when Daniel was out. Sid would be a close second but I definitely would say that the fact that Malkin has such an impact on them winning has to be a knock.

I watch tons of Nuks games, they arent that great on the D, but they are ok. Not bad, not great, OK, they have problems down low in their own end (you will see it in the Chi series).

I am a huge fan of Henrik, but I will put it this way, if Henriks wingers are Guerin and whoever else the Pens throw in, Henrik isn't a 110 pt player.

I think you're putting too much emphasis on individual talent when evaluating Crosby's line mates. Guerin may not have a lot of skill but the way he plays meshes well with Crosby, and that's the important thing. You can have three super talented guys on a line but if they don't gel together then forget about it. Much the same way the Sedins are with Burrows, the Canucks tried all sorts of players with the Sedins and no one worked on a consistent basis except for Burrows, a guy that went undrafted in two drafts. Not to take too much away from Crosby but the whole scrub line mates argument is full of hot air, he excels when he's paired with guys that do what he wants them to do, and he has the benefit of having an equal talent on the next line in Malkin to take checkers away from his line, and an excellent third line centre in Staal to make the match up game even more stressful. Where as Sedin probably has more talent up front on his team, as furlan said he carried the team on his back when he lost his best line mate in Daniel, much better then Crosby has when Malkin was out of the line up.

My money is on Sid, although I'd love for Hank to win. Right now Crosby has all the momentum and seems to do no wrong.

Yeah Henrik really had a nice season. Did it all really, first time he put up some ginos, as well as keeping up his apples. Ovi's ppg is highest but he plays on a team loaded with talent and they score a ton of goals. I would think Sid's ppg would be high if he was feeding Semin, Green, Backstrom, Laich, Knuble, Fehr, Fleishman, all those guy's can score. I truly think Sid is the most valuable player to his team. If you take him out of the lineup, they're not half as good. Henrik did well when Daniel was out, put I think it would be the same if Henrik was out, meaning Daniel would keep going at a high clip. Pretty sure they switch jerseys between periods lol. And Ovi is very valuable to his team but they have so much talent that they would still be a good team without him, I mean they healthied Fleishman in the playoffs, guy had 20 goals, how many teams can do that?

I give it to Sid.
