Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted May 9, 2010 The fees are so high, and seller protection is so low on Ebay now that it really isn't worth it anymore.
puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2010 and how often does eBay have their promotional insertion fee? I remember a few years ago it was a 10cent insertion fee on promotional offers/days to sellers.

puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2010 Does ebay only charge on the sale price (inc. insertion fee), or do they count shipping and handling as well? When it comes to shipping, should I only post the cheapest method of shipping, or would ppl want to upgrade? can i give them a list of choices, if i get quotes/rates from my post office? fastbrother7 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2010 The fees are brutal on ebay. You sell something for $90 at buy it now, after the initial listing fee and final value fee, you get about 78 bucks back.

Was able to charge a guy in Germany $45 to ship skatesIsn't that close to what it cost?I'm saying they limited it so you can't put shipping of say... a pair of tickets for $50. Clearly it doesn't cost $50 to ship tickets. $45 to ship skates to Germany however sounds right.
DavidT 11 Report post Posted May 12, 2010 My only advice is to have the auction end on Sunday evening and start low. I dont use reserves simply because Ive found it makes for more bidding and an outcome of higher prices.Ebays policies do suck for the most part, but Ive been able to sell stuff at twice the price anywhere else and almost immediately. shotty 7 Report post Posted May 12, 2010 like davidt said, have the auction end in the evening, around 8 or 9pm (eastern time), dont set a reserve and if you've got some balls, start the bidding at $1. true, ebay will ding you with fairly high fees, but you're also showing your product to millions of people and more often than not, even with the low starting price and no reserve, you'll get within a few dollars of your expected price, so long as its not a seasonal product (selling skis in may/june/july is not a good idea), and your expected price was reasonable to begin with.what i used to do was ask bidders to request a shipping quote, because the shipping calc provided isnt exactly precise, and sometimes deterred bids.... after a while, i just decided to flat rate the shipping with a reasonable and semi educated price. anko 3 Report post Posted May 15, 2010 Multiple (good quality) pictures.Ebay will host one (maybe two?) pictures for free, but wants to charge for additional pictures. nickerjones 8 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 It's free to "receive" the payment if you're a U.S. user, but they charge to withdraw to a bank account. Its free in the US if you use very randomly. I am a Verified Premier member because I used to sell a lot on ebay til it got crappy. Now it cost me 4.5 % of whatever I receive . So if I receive 100 bucks from an auction ... they get 4.50 !! It sucks
puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2010 sold something on ebay, buyer wants to return, which i agreed. Do i only refund the sale price of the item? or the whole thing including shipping charges when they bought it from me originally?
Hradsky 1 Report post Posted June 11, 2010 sold something on ebay, buyer wants to return, which i agreed. Do i only refund the sale price of the item? or the whole thing including shipping charges when they bought it from me originally?Try to get them to agree to a refund without the cost of shipping (just cost of item) This seems to be the most reasonable, because if they just changed their mind about the product then they shouldn't get free shipping there, but if it was you who described it wrong then I suppose you can refund it all.
