Yzerman the new GM in Tampa

Recommended Posts

I totally called that one - I had a conversation at the last game with a season-ticket holder. Told her that we should go after him. Yzerman was not going to be handed a GM job in DET - he had to earn it elsewhere.

Makes sense from a hockey and family standpoint for him. All three of his daughters ride horses in Florida for shows a lot. All very nice girls too.

the best of luck to steve in tampa. he will be missed here in detroit. alot of people here saw it coming after the olympics. he knew that ken holland and jim nill(ast gm) weren't going anywhere soon so he had to leave to be a gm. who know he may return to the wings one day and i for one hope he does. what about the possiblity of joe kocur as the head coach?

It's great to see TBL really focused on stabilizing the organization. They have a great product and didn't always have great management. Stevey will do great things in the sunshine state.

Although he has not completely ruled out a return to the NHL, it appears as though it will not happen this season, even if a former teammate with the Red Wings who was recently hired in Tampa Bay gave him a call.

"Not now," said Hasek of the possibility of joining Steve Yzerman and the Lightning. "Maybe in the future. The weather is always nice over there. At least I would think about it. But it just won't happen this year."

The prospect of Hasek returning is a whole topic by itself, but its very interesting to hear Yzerman gave him a call about a return..

JR, enjoy working with Boucher. He's a great guy and a great coach.
