Maybe I'm just stupid, but why do they replace Bellhorn every game in the 8th or the 9th, regardless of how hes playing? Hell, twice hes hit home runs in the 7th or 8th, only to be taken out the next inning.

He is a huge liability in the field. He's much better then Pokey at the plate, but absolutely useless defensively. Once the Sox can get a lead in the late innings, they will put Pokey, who is very, very good with the glove, in there for a little security through the middle-infield.

2 more outs until Boston begins the riots.

Why do poeple riot when their team wins a Championship....it's weird...you don't run out into the street and break a window when you get a raise or promotion....when the girl you've been asking out finally says yes, you don't flip over a car...when your first child is born you don't go out a slug a cop...but (and I know booze has A LOT to do with it...but not evry person out there is drunk) people seem to attach violence to sports celebrations...I'll never understand that.

Having said that, it's early...we don't know how the Boston celebrations will end...

Check out the following thread on a Red Sox board known as 'SOSH'

The person who started it posted one MIGHTY post.

The post was called "Win it for"

"Win it for Johnny Pesky, who deserves to wear a Red Sox uniform in the dugout during the 2004 World Series. Mr. Henry, the trophy needs to be presented first of all to him.

Win it for Bobby Doerr, who, through the sadness of losing his beloved Monica, would love to see his Sox finally defeat New York in Yankee Stadium. Revenge is best served cold.

Win if for Dommie, the most loyal and devoted of men. If he hadn't gotten hurt in Game 7 of the '46 Series, Enos Slaughter would never have scored.

Win it for Carl Yastrzemski. While his heart still aches today, may a smile break through his personal storm-cloud this evening. His beloved son, Mike, will show us the way. God speed, number eight.

Win it for Ted, who once said, "If they ever won it, I would feel so @#%$ warm inside."

Win it for Tony, who taught us all the meaning of courage and grit. A day doesn't go by when I don't think of you, number 25.

Win it for Nedly and Ken and Possum - who provided us with nothing less than the soundtrack to our childhoods.

Win it for Richard Gorman, who followed the team passionately while residing in Queens and the Bronx. He was a master teacher, a supportive friend, and a diehard Red Sox fan.

Win if for Stiffy - who saw firsthand Denny Galehouse's hanging curves, worshiped the Golden Greek even after he died so suddenly back in '55, and got misty-eyed when Rico Petrocelli began to back-peddle on a squirting pop-up to short left-field on a placid October afternoon back in 1967.

Win if for Cheri - may she cry on Giff's shoulders tonight in pure joy and emotion - and not in the stew of pathos. Cheri's unconditional love for the Red Sox serves as a genuine measuring stick for us all.

Win it for Felix - who began living out "The September of My Years" last month as he hit fifty; a fan who has always believed that the impossible is just not a dream.

Win it for Eric Van. Eric, you have truly embodied Hemingway's definition of courage recently. Grace under pressure, indeed.

Win if for Eric Van's father.

Win it for Dalton and Moose and Norm and Buck and Zup and all of the other old-timers on this board whose lives have defined the virtue of loyalty.

Win it for our far-off posters, from Manila to Montana to Mark in London, who have continually kept the home fires burning thousands of miles away from Route 128.

Most of all, win it for James Lawrence Kelly, 1913-1986. This one's for you, Daddy. You always told me that loyalty and perseverance go hand in hand. Thanks for sharing the best part of you with me."

The one with the guy whose grandfather had Alzheimer's is the one that got me. Asking how Ted Williams was doing...damn.

Win it for Ack , my Grandfather ...

Who in 1986 with the sox having the game sewed up with two outs and two strikes and a two run lead in the tenth , told me and my brother , " I've never seen a Sox Championship , your father has never seen a Sox Championship , now you will see one " Only to have his heart ripped out and to walk to the other room without a word. He was as die hard as they come , he lived through the hard New England winters with the hope of what the sox would bring the next summer . He passed away in 2001 in the same room he watched game 6 in in 1986 . Maybe he can pulls some strings tonight !

that's some heavy stuff...

Worst... World Series... ever! Seriously.

I'm still voting for the '98 Yankees/Padres tilt, but this one was boring as hell.

Here in St. Louis, I don't even want to listen to sportstalk radio today....

I wished and hoped the Cards would have played a better series than they did. Not even necessarily win, but at least go 6 games. The Sox may need to practice fielding in the off-season but their pitching shut down the Cards big bats.

Interesting parallel to NHL playoffs here: The Conference championships are usually better than the Cup Finals and the same was the case in MLB with the LCS being better than the series. In some instances the same could be said about NBA and NFL playoffs as well.

Quick funny store here in the St. Louis media: Yesterday, local news camera crews went to Keith Tkachuk's house. He was decked out in Red Sox jersey/hat/etc... (obviously a Sox fan being from Boston for those who don't know). Quick interview to sum up with him saying, "I love St. Louis and the Cardinals but I'm from Boston and we've been waiting a long time for this...." He had his Cards season tickets upgraded to 5th row behind the Sox dugout. Local media and fans are calling for his head on a platter saying he isn't loyal to St. Louis. Gimme' a f'n' break!

All in all I wish it wasn't a sweep, but I can't help but feel great for the Sox this morning. Would've been nice to do it in Fenway though....

The Cards fans were pretty classy through this. It could not have been very easy.

Here in Denver they are still talking about the MNF loss to the Bengals. Talk about giving me a freakin break!

Yeah but look who you're comparing us to? Al-Quaida is pretty classy compared to Yankees fans...
