Opinions on best skate(s) for foot shape

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about picking up another pair of skates. Top model or model 1 step down. Wanted to get some opinions here before going to my LHS to see what everyone thought may be a good skate designed for my foot shape. Foot is normal to maybe ever so slightly high arch, low instep (have trouble wearing slip on shoes), and I think I have normal to narrow width and skinnier ankles/lower leg. Foot measured 3 5/8" wide at widest spot in forefoot, 3" in middle and 2 5/16" at heel. Some pics attached to help.

Well, I'm not to sure what you should get, but from the pictures I don't think that you would fit Reebok. They have a bit of a big heel. Unless you can fit a D/AA.

My LHS has some Vapor, Supreme and a couple Easton, CCM/RBK models. Maybe 1 Graf model. They are a big Bauer store for gear. I guess I'll start with the Vapors and go from there.

Had a chance to try on a friends new pair of RBK 11k's. Definitely too deep and wide throughout. 1 down, rest to go.

Bringing this back as looking to replace skates again. Last year I bought some x60's. Heel is a bit too wide and not sure if do to the heel counter not being pronounced but my heel rubs on hard strides causing pain/irritation and my foot moves slightly out of the pocket and my big toe then gets black n blue. Also forefoot is bit too deep.

Today I tried on everything at my lhs. X7.0, APX, One100 and Totalone. Supreme were both bit wide and too deep. One100 also hurt my heel like my x60's. X7.0 was basically my x60's. APX was ok in the heel(better than x60 or x7.0) but too deep all over and Totalone didn't hurt in the heel but bit too wide in heel and too much depth overall. I had tried on CCM CL's before and they hurt like hell. Only skate haven't tried yet was a 11K. Trying that next week when they get it in. Anyone have any other model suggestions? My LHS does not carry the newer Easton's or Grafs so can't try them on locally and would have to order online which I prefer not to have to do.

Your feet look similar to mine so I'd find a way to check out the EQ series from Easton. You could try ordering through IW since they have free return on skates

So far we have Easton, three models of Graf, RBK, vapor and vectors suggested. You really need to be careful weeding through bad advice, even here where we have a lot of very knowledgeable members. You're doing the right thing and trying on as many skates as you can. just make sure you are trying the right sizes in all of these brands.
