Shot Protectors

Recommended Posts

Have been looking through google trying to find out if the plastic skate protectors that the pro's were wearing for the playoffs are available for sale, and who makes them ? If not them does any one know another shot protector for your skate ?

I've been using Skate Fenders for a few weeks now. Very nice product. I don't even notice them at all when I'm on the ice.

The best way to buy them is to contact Skate Fender and ask them where the nearest retailer is that sells them. The eBay ones are way over priced.

seen a guy use skateboard elbow pads. just strapped one side around the ankle and the other under the boot between the holder. looked like it worked well. and surely the cheapest method

+1 on rejean. got mines from him. they are great.

Also majer hockey in Toronto has them, and so does Dukes Source for Sports in South Etobicoke.

I have been using them for about 3 weeks. I get hit with shots alot in the foot when I stand in front of the net sometimes to screen the goalie. have taken two shots off them (they didnt redirect in darnit lol)...and they are holding up.

really like them. Might have to tweak the straps a bit though to your personal preference (cut or elongate them)

Hope that helped.

So I'm reading this post this morning and thinking that some MSH'ers are pretty hard core what with shot blockers for their skates. Seemed like overkill to me. Even remembered when I was at the Hamilton Bulldogs locker clean out a month ago and the garbage bin was full of these things in perfect shape. Almost took a pair but then thought "what's the point". Blocked a shot not two hours later. Broken toe. Get the point now.

These don't protect your toe..

still, better than nothing...

plus i like to say my cage protects my back, because when im wearing a visor and getting in front of a clean slap, I do tend to turn around to protect my mouth, only to expose my back.

Got my skatefenders cheap at tsr - $30 iirc. Broke two bones in one foot the past two seasons and decided I wanted to avoid doing it again.

Using them in a jr/college tournament this weekend. Had four games today and took several hits dead on the piece from point shots and dump ins, all resulting in no pain, and sometimes didn't even feel it. Love em.

This was a shot just on the edge of the boot and toecap. Thought I might get some coverage. So there is nothing to protect the toe fully? Yikes.

I'm pretty sure a combination of protect-toe and the skate guard would make for a safe boot :P

Since I took a slapshot off the ankle a couple of weeks ago , spent a long weekend on crutches and have been limping ever since, I decided to ramp up my search for these. After numerous fruitless visits to area shops I finally scored a pair of Skate Fenders at a venerable shop (shout out to Kenesky's in Hamilton). These things cover the the ankle and go right to the start of the toe cap, wrapping around the entire foot. They seem pretty light. Instead of avoiding taking a shot of my vulnerable ankle by skipping hockey this weekend, I will take this for a spin and report back. Not too pricey either ($80 Can) ; which is well worth it considering the world of pain I have been in for two weeks

These should be considered by all you shot blocking defenceman to protect your ankle area especially. A lot cheaper than being on crutches for months after taking a hard slapper.

We just started carrying these in our shop and I put them on for the first time a few days ago. I was pretty impressed. For some reason I thought they were going to be a bit on the bulky side but they fit my skates (size 7 CCM U+ pro) pretty snug, and the added weight was hardly noticable. Just curious as to how many people will actually buy them from us as I can't see there being a huge market for them (mostly AAA and junior kids I would imagine). I am glad we have a pair here now though so if I ever hurt my foot I got something to cover up with. Has anybody had any problems to speak of with these?

Anyone have a link to the custom carbon shot protectors, not the skate fenders. Thanks.

Thanks, that it! Have customer who missed a lot of hockey due to foot injury and is willing to pay the big $$$ for more protection. I'll give him the link. Thanks again.
