Have you ever seen yourself?

Recommended Posts

we have alot of clips of me playing and pics.

I actually use it see what I am doing wrong...

few things ive learned

I have alot more space out there than I think

I need to bend my knees more (which is what i do now)

I need to keep my head up (try to do this alot more now too)

not slouch and stay upright (which i try to do)

I AM REALLY SLOW...when i think i am going fast, i am not. Solution (lose some weight, and work on skating)

I have now seen an even funnier video of myself playing. The same person who video taped my team that other game taped a game that I was subbing for a team. In the beginning of the video I'm fast on the puck, getting a nice knee bend, skating hard, and doing everything I should be (more or less). Then as time goes by in the game I suddenly start skating like the lazy bum I was in the other video.

It took me a little bit to remember, but I soon recalled that since I wasn't on the actual team I had been trying to just set people up and not score (it was a playoff game, and I really didn't want to be that guy). The team was losing and a couple guys started getting on the goalie and a few of the poorer players because we were losing and obviously it was their fault. I passed up a shot on a 2 on 1 and gave it to one of the "bad players" who missed the net.

Well, we get back to the bench and one of the superstars on the team starts getting on me and the other player about "blowing chances." From that point on, I just stopped even trying. And on the video you can see night and day from the shift before and the shift after the 2 on 1. Pretty Funny to me at least.

Even after seeing myself, I feel that my speed and agility are about accurate, but my stride doesn't seem as fluid as it feels. My hands don't look quite as smooth, but my moves and shot are still pretty decent.

Seen myself once... and was completely and uterly appauled.

I wouldn't mind getting more video and seeing if I have managed to cross a few things off the page of things I did wrong

I've seen small clips of myself, one was good, the other was a foot race to the puck along the left wing, I just beat him to the puck, chipped it over his stick then back hand sauced a pass into the slot and the centre fanned on it. it FELT good, but the video made it look like I'd never handled a puck before. it looked flukish.

I've seen the video and I'm terrible.

Wish I could get someone to take new video (newest is two years old) but girlfriend is sick of hockey.

I bought one of those Flip Mino HD cameras for $150 off of newegg. I've mounted it to the glass behind the bench for a few of my mens' league games. I've posted a few of myself getting leveled on youtube for kicks.

This one I just ran into the guy, he was larger and heavier than I am, no biggie.

I'm blind in the right eye, this one I cut across the neutral zone, didn't see him. Kind of concerns me he stuck his leg out.

Back in high school we used to do video review for all of our games.

I would be very concerned. After getting leg checked in the knee a bunch of times last season, I gueessed some sort of ligiment damage would eventually happen to my kneww. I happened to tear my acl on a clean hit that had unintentional knee on knee contact.

I agree with everyone. Video is one of the best/worst things you can do. Best to help your game, but it just kills your ego...what's left of it. When I was younger I had access to some video of our games and it was great. I just recently got back into the game and taped myself....I felt like I was going to die and actually felt embarrassed. I looked like I was skating in slow motion. It helped me kick myself back into high gear though and get my butt moving.

I'm hideous! I hate watching myself...

You looked fine to me. I look like fucking Frankenstein on skates. I'm seriously considering cutting the tendons behind my knees so they will naturally bend more.

Still think you should have rocked the old school Butch Goring bucket for the game.

You may look like Frankie on skates but you also block shots better than a kevlar vest! I can't beleive you walked that out and also skated with a broken toe! Seriously, you came in beat and took another licken. Incredible! Deep knee bends are for sissys! Straight leg yourslef to the far blueline after those gravy, outlet saucer passes you were throwing, no one will be watching!

Bucky only comes out on the ice for Shootouts now. I had to retire'r because there was a little confusion with the opposing team as to how they were going to cover such a magnificant piece of work. Seriously, there is tread stitching through the 1mm thick plastic, how can anyone keep up with that technology?

that`s just a small clip of a game my uncle taped for me. I`m 15. Luckily that was a good part. I THOUGHT I had a pretty good game, I watch the replay and I`m just like....aww hell no. My skating was really non-fluid, I overall just didn`t look good and now I understand when my coach tells me I need a bigger backswing. Please do help me out, if you have any sort of tips. And yes, I can shoot harder I was just really panicked with a guy coming in, just wanted to get a shot off. And yeah, the cely sucked. Deal with it.

the only thing i can really suggest there is to open your stance more. when you see the puck coming, get your feet at shoulder width apart or slightly wider. this will give you balance and power in your core to create a stronger wind up and more efficient strike/follow thru.

cant be too upset with yourself though, you scored!

I noticed that I'm much fatter and lazier than I thought. I also spend a lot of time coasting. When I "go" is about the only time it looks acceptable.

+1 to that. That is what I exactly thought of myself! No more video to be taken

Haha I can`t argue with that. But I`ll definitely keep that in mind once I play tomorrow.
