Help Indentifying Some Skate Laces

Recommended Posts

A while back I purchased a pair of used skates off of eBay. Didn't like the skates, but loved the laces which were brand new and hence not the stock laces. I'm running low on laces and would like to purchase more of them, but aren't entirely sure what brand/model they are and would appreciate any help (I know laces are not a huge deal, but still figured I would check with the resident experts here). I am thinking they might be Bauer double-tracer laces...

They are black/grey/black. I think you guys are correct about them being Elite laces:

I was thinking they were a different brand because I have some of their waxed laces and the tracer pattern is completely different. Thanks for the help!

It could be a different batch? I bought a yellow pair from my LHS and another from Cambodian Tire. The color and patterns from both sets didn't match exactly.

...and Reebok's OEM for laces is?

It never would have occurred to me that Reebok would slap their name on another manufacturer's laces. Good to know, because they're quite nice.

You want nice? Try Graf, Howies, or TexStyle. Same OEM and amazing laces.

I wouldn't have known it without going to their site and seeing the packaging, but I wear Tex Style laces in all my ref skates. They're pretty much indestructible.

I've been using these for a while and the durability has been great. The only problem has been that they must be stretching, since I always seem to need to re-tie my skates after half an hour of play. Does that mean the laces aren't "broken in" yet or something? Are there any laces that stretch less?

It's just like jeans, after a wear the fibers stretch. I'd just retie them and they'll be fine.. or just crank the hell out of 'em at the beginning.
