Whats wrong wiht my skate?

Recommended Posts

I have had a pair of One100's now for a couple of months. Last night I skated in them and out of know where from the time I hit the ice there was a pain in the outside arch of my right foot. Nothing wrong with my left. Same socks, same laces. But the pain was aweful. I attempted to loosn them. Nothing. Tighten them. Nothing. Has anyone else had this issue with any skate? Any and all realistic suggestions for a possible solution are appreciated.

Have you been wearing the same shoes during the day or something different than usual in shoes?

Yes I was wearing an old pair of flipflops all day yesterday and last night.

Ok, your arch took a beating from wearing crappy flip flops all day! Wear your regular comfortable shoes/ sneakers and you will be fine the next time you skate.

Sounds simple enough. Thanks.

Rhino:

Classic...same EXACT thing happened to me on my right foot with my TOs about two months ago. The situation actually caused me inflammation of the peroneal ligament, and my general practitioner thought I might have had a fractured navicular bone (sports orthepedist looked at my MRI...and told me to hit the ice). It was all caused by wearing a good dress shoe with a crappy insole for a week on contract in NYC and Tampa. I was on my feet all week in that setup, and wound up getting a really sore arch and ligament. The key was to pay as much attention to my shoe/sneaker insole as I do my hockey skate. I now wear superfeet blue in every shoe, and a modified superfeet yellow in my skate. Using a good insole in sneakers/shoes really makes a difference, and has all but eliminated the foot pain. Giving the foot a rest with some RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) treatment will speed up the healing process...but nothing does the job better than a good pair of sneakers with the right insole for long term foot health.

Thanks for the conformation. I think DarkStar nailed it due to the fact that I always wear Superfeet insoles in ALL of my shoes everyday and in my skates. Of course that day I wore crappy old flip flopps. I skate tonight and will give you my outcome. FYI; I have been in my best sneakers with Superfeet all day today, so time will tell.

Skated last night and just as DarkStar said. It was the shoes. My skates felt great my feet were perfect in them. I never would have thought it would have been something so simple. Thanks again for everyones input.

Didn't want to start a new thread so this one seems to address a similar issue. I have had skates for 5 days now and used them 3 times (CCM u+ 12) and my right foot I get pain on my outside center of my foot and a little above that. It's only on my right foot. I know new skates have break in time but I am being real cautious as I had problems with my old skate so I just want to be sure and I don't want to harass my LHS even though they said to come in for any problems no matter what, thanks!

probably need it punched out at that spot. i have a pressure spot too on that bone. punching it out fixed it entirely.

and don't be afraid to ask your store questions. they sold you a quality product and have the obligation to ensure you are satisfied with it. that is the new customer service industry. ask them questions and they will help you come to a solution.

I have the same problem when on skate on a Friday night or Saturday after working all week. Standing all day on concerete in my work boots really gives my arches and beating.

I used to have this problem. Try skipping a row of holes when you first lace your skate. Skip the first set of holes near the toe cap.
