thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2010 I've been looking to buy a Bauer One95 stick and I haven't been able to find a non-grip right handed 77 or 87 flex in the PM9 pattern. I'm seeing that the stick is going on clearance at a lot of websites now, and I am wondering if I should just bite the bullet and try out a different pattern, or go with a PM9 with the grip coating. My question is, how big of a difference would I notice with the Grip coating in terms of weight/ability to move my hand up and down the stick with ease? Is it possible to remove the grip coating without damaging the stick? OR, does anyone have experience with other Bauer patterns and could recommend one to me that won't be too far of a difference from the PM9? I have looked at the blade database here, but I really don't know how to interpret all the data.
lampliter87 8 Report post Posted October 1, 2010 Grip's weight difference is going to be negligible. Should you switch to a grip stick, it will take a skate or two to get used to the difference, but I've been able to go back and forth without too much difficulty. I haven't ever tried to remove a grip and am not sure it's entirely possible, I suppose the easiest way would be to spray it with a clear coat maybe. If you did end up buying a grip, use it a couple times before trying to change anything and see how you like the switch.
Stryker 37 Report post Posted October 1, 2010 I found that to get rid of the grip I sanded the stick down, so it lost a lot of it, and then rub baby powder on it or spray it with an aerosol powder before each game. It looks like crap after sanding, but ends up feeling ok. Still tackier than a normal stick though...
tml67 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2010 I normally don't use grip sticks, but I couldn't resist picking up a One95 Stick'um for a good price. I used it for a couple shifts but I just couldn't get use to the grip. I find it difficult to slide up and down the shaft. I tried putting clear tape to cover up the grip and it worked somewhat, but I end up selling the stick. I don't think I'll buy another grip stick again. Barts66 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 I know I am bringing up a dead topic, but I really didnt see the need to start a new one since this sort of covers what I am looking for.I know the Supreme one95 stick is hard to find anymore, but does anyone know where I could pick one up? Any websites or LHS that ships that anyone knows of?

Any websites or LHS that ships that anyone knows of?It's kind of hit or miss at LHS's. I think it all depends on if you get lucky enough to find the correct hand, flex, and curve that you are looking for. I've noticed a few RH (that's what I am so that's what I pay the most attention too) here and there around me. I've seen mostly intermediate but a couple 87 and 102 flexes. They ship anywhere so you may be in luck. www.gunzos.com
gerbe3:16 19 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 My first One95 should be arriving tomorrow. I'm very anxious to try it out. I'm going from a low kickpoint bunch of sticks with Stick Um (Dolo DD and XXV) to a nongrip One95 to try it out. Should be fun to feel the blade in action, with it getting rave reviews. I'm also anxious to try out the higher kickpoint.
ponder 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 I know this isn't why it was bumped, but the grip on the one95 is the most subtle/nice grip I've ever used. A lot of grip sticks are too tacky/rubbery for me, they feel like a thickish coat of rubber, the one95's grip is very subtle, feels like just a very thin texture, almost like a half way point between a standard grip finish and a matte finish, if that makes sense. Very different than the grip on some other Bauer sticks, like the grips on mid-range Vapour sticks I've used, for example. Too bad these sticks are essentially impossible to find in the P88 curve now though :(

IMO, The Supreme One95 is one of the most solid sticks that has ever been made. Wish I could find somewhere that has inventory that they're looking to dispose of.Thanks for all the recomendations everyone!
Agent1.8 1 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 For my grip sticks I grab some slush off the ice and rub a little over the shaft before each game to make it less tacky.
chhhockeynut14 1 Report post Posted June 12, 2011 Go with the stick. You can always get over the grip on the stick. I hated grip but I just started to rub tape residue on my non grip stick and I think grip is starting to grow on me. If you can find a one95 then for sure get it it's worth it even if it's grip. ponder 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2011 you ever use nipple grip? Much less tacky than stick'um IMOUsed the nipple grip on the Dolo (dragon edition), definitely less tacky than most Bauer grips, but the grip on my (now broken) one95 is even more subtle IMO. It's the Bauer (not NBH) one95, the silver and blue stick'um version, though I assume the NBH stick'um (also silver and blue) is probably the same.Anyone know if the totalone grip tac is the same texture as the one95 stick'um, or if it's a different feel? gerbe3:16 19 Report post Posted June 15, 2011 In keeping with this discussion, loving the new One95 I just got. Scored a goal with it last night in my first game. However, I went from very grippy XXVs with Stickum to Dolos with nipple grip and now to the nongrip One95 I have has no grip whatsoever. It really was killing me, it felt way too weird. I'm going to have to candycane it or something. I didn't think I would notice it as much as I did.Now I can see why this stick was so well-known for the puck feel on the blade. Very impressive.
