T'Blades

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if anyone uses these anymore, However I found a place that has an ABUNDANCE of these things if anyone needs them. They had a ton of them in sizes 263-300 in all hollows/radius'.

Let me know your thoughts...?

Hockeymonkey.com has em, and quite a few of em. Prices vary quite a bit. I was interested in them myself for a while, but I decided against it for tratitional steel.

They seem cool, and I've never heard a bad thing about t-blades from anybody. I may try them in the future if they're still around, but at the moment its cheaper for me to sharpen skates once every 4-6 weeks than to replace a t-blade runner every few months.

Just out of curiosity how long do T-blade runners last anyone who uses them? I'm sure it varies based on your style and the hollow, but it's worth asking.

What? You sharpen your skates every 4-6 weeks!? Then t'blades would last you about 2 years

Yeah, I use a nice flat hollow because I grew up on inlines, so the 1" hollow helps me slide on ice. After about a week of skating, the blades are at a perfect spot for me, and it stays that way for a while. I'll sharpen my skates once a month unless I catch an edge, catch the boards, or catch some really bad ice.

I had T-Blades a few years ago and thought that they didn't really stay sharp as long as they claim. I liked the lightness though. When I got new skates, I didn't feel it was worth putting T-Blades on them though.

I felt the same way about mine. I sold the skates with the T-Blades to a friend who still has 'em.

Oh I doubt that I'm ever actually gonna get T-blades. I'm gonna skate on my cheap-ass x15's until I break the runner/holder, then I'll slap an inline chassis on em and get Graf's. I could never justify replacing a perfectly good steel runner with... plastic??

I tried them out. In retrospect I had the wrong hollow and wrong radius combination which locked me into one direction - straight ahead.

They were smooth on the ice, probably due to a better surface finish than from a grindstone. And super light. And super goofy looking.

Ditto, but it's worth noting that I feel it was more due to me being a TAD on the heavy side ;)

Razr, what's that site you found? I still have a couple friends that are using them and are in need of some new runners. I found a couple sites, but one is on backorder.

Are these things still in Production, or are stores just giving up on selling them?

T Blades aren't that great for two main reasons.

1- They are loud on the ice and you can't sneak in anywhere playing on them

2- Most importantly, they can't be sharpenned so if you step on a blade, slam in the post or whatever on your first game you are shit out of luck and out of $20 or so.. at least that's what they costed back then.

However, they are very sharp and hold an edge for while if you don't nick them. I have used them for a couple of years or more way back then and would not go back to them.

i would liek to know where this abundance or parts are as well, assuming tis not hockey monkey or proline skates, i use a mission agx with traditional steel and a mission ag120 with tblades S-11-256, i liek them both alot, main reason is cause they skate so differently from each other, while i dont play hockey im an "extreme skater" but i liek to call it trick skating...

anyway, i liek the tblades cause of the consistency of the runners, each time i change it its always the same right when i get on the ice, the style design and look of the tblade is awesome, the sound of the crunching ice is aggressive and unique, i dont like them cause they feel like i am standing tall on the ice, my traditional i feel like i am much lower on the ice, i can stop more aggressively, and the longer runner gives me a much smoother and flatter rocking feel on the ice.........

where was i, yeah where are these parts????

At the beginning of December I contacted T-Blade in Germany and they forwarded the e-mail to a guy in the US that is in charge (?) of the branch office for N.America. The guy's name is Rupert Vielhaber and can be contacted at rvielhaber@t-blade.net. In a brief e-mail Rupert claimed the death of T-Blade is premature and they are actually coming out with new products that will be presented sometime this year in Munich at the ISPO, whatever that is. I told Rupert that I was having trouble getting runners, including from Monkey, and all the retailers that I spoke with had no idea when new runners/holders/stabilizers would be available from T-Blade. Well, Rupert claims that he can get everything, just to let him know. I have not taken him up on the offer yet, but will need to do so soon. Maybe he can help some of you.

Personally, T-blades are not for me. The sound irks me, and the look is not much better. But that is just my personal preference, and I am more of a traditionalist.

But I do know a few that may be interested. One, in particular, has a son that uses them and indicated to me that there was a strike, or something going on with the factory or company itself, and they halted production of blades. (Sorry, I haven't searched here yet, but thought I would ask.) Is anyone more knowledgeable know what the hangup has/had been? That way I can go back and let them know. But he might also be interested, if Rupert is the correct contact.

Thanks.

I recently emailed Rupert basically asking him if the company is doing alright, because t'blades are getting harder and harder to find. He responded by saying "We are very active, and plan to be active for a very long time" He also said the brief shortage of t'blades was due mainly to politics, but they are good now. He mentioned that they have opened a location in Michigan, and the will debut some new products in a Las Vegas show. So i guess everything is now okay with t'blades, which is always good.

Can you bake skates that have T-blades on them? I asked this in a separate post last night but got no reply. Wondering if anyone has tried is.

Try sending this guy an email rvielhaber@t-blade.net. He's the head of tblades in North America, so he should know the answer. Be sure to let us know if you get a response.

T'blade is back. They are now independently distributed, no longer Graf.

We saw their "prototype" in Vegas. Very interesting.

Some sort of flat-bottom V hopefully?
