BlackIce 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2010 O.K., well I was in a terrible scoring slump for the last 9 games. (I am usually a point per game/point every other game guy). Nothing was going in the net. I was hitting posts, missing the net by inches , shooting right at the tender's chest, you know the deal. Well, I decided to change my laces (don't ask me why). Well, I scored last game and let me tell you after you've been in a long scoring drought/slump and you score it feels orgasmic. Just want to know what's the craziest thing you guys have done to help you end a scoring slump/drought. Not that the change in laces got me out of my slump/drought but mentally I think it did. Hell, I even bought a new stick yesterday (Bauer One95) to prevent the slump/drought from returning!
tareatingrat 4 Report post Posted November 28, 2010 There was this one time I killed a hooker, but usually I just change something up...go from black to white tape, switch up my sticks, change gloves, get my skates sharpened somewhere else...whatever.As far as superstitions, I used to have a white Oakley wristband that I wouldn't wash as long as I got a point in a game. Once I went a game with no points, I'd wash it. That stopped working for a number of games, so I now have a black Oakley wristband that I wash every game, no matter what.Buying new equipment always helps for the next game because I'm excited to play because I have the new equipment... pass the bisk 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2010 One time I went five games without scoring so I remember a I took a shot on net when I was driving and I was going to try to bump the goalie a little bit. Well, that would have worked if the goalie didn't come out a foot further than I anticipated. Ended up knocking him right over. Puck went in the net, but didn't count haha

Scotty 8 Report post Posted November 29, 2010 I usually make sure I'm very well-rested before a game, but I've had some of the best games of my life (several hat trick or 4-goal games) after being dead tired. So sometimes I'll make sure I'm really sleepy (wake up from a nap right before I head to my game or something) before playing. Other times I'll just change sticks. shooter27 116 Report post Posted November 30, 2010 Made my girlfriend sleep with my stick. She thought I was nuts and, for the record, it didn't work. So, I dropped the girlfriend, slump busted.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted November 30, 2010 Start shooting more, I tend to pass too much. I also make it a point to be more aggressive. Switching positions for a couple shifts has worked in the past. It gets me out of my bad habits and makes me think a little more. I don't do crazy, simple stuff works. mug25 2 Report post Posted November 30, 2010 I've decided. Tomorrow night, the beard is being trimmed into a stache! If we win, we'll snap a 4 game losing streak. From there on our I will grow it into a George Parros stache!!!Start shooting more, I tend to pass too much. I also make it a point to be more aggressive. Switching positions for a couple shifts has worked in the past. It gets me out of my bad habits and makes me think a little more.Sounds A LOT like me lately. I've been passing far too much...seeing as I have the 2nd hardest shot on the team it's kinda dumb on my part. C-League goalies + Hard snap shots = back of the net. ibeck 38 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Back when I played minor hockey, (play in a beer league now) I remember once I went back to my old gloves and it worked. I had back to back to back 2 goal games. Another time I changed my routine, putting all the left gear on first rather than the right. It doesnt seem much but hockey players and routine go hand in hand. Looking back on it now that switch threw me off even more.
sickwilly 37 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I always liked Mark Grace's approach... but I suppose I never really needed to be in a slump for that.
lassek20 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 my best slump killer was getting totally smashed before a game a couple years back. i had like 12 budweisers and a chicken sandwich. i had and unlimited amount of energy and anger. i had a natural hat-trick in the first and 3 assists.i also got in a fight and didnt finish the game. NextBobbyOrr 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 I just completely let loose. That for me was screw the pre-game crap, no focus or breathing. I watched cartoons for 2 hours, had a big mac and fries. Threw my gear into the bag, bad tape job at the last minute. Somehow it worked. For my best game(hatty and assist, pretty good for a D), I was trying to impress this girl on the other team. It worked, although that one goal involved me dangling her pretty well and the assist was from sliding it through her legs in a 2 on 1. I don't think she was very impressed.
