Differences Between Warrior Prostock Blades

Recommended Posts

So I was looking at a number of pro stock dolos online, and notice that some pro patterns have two different finishes; below is an example of two Kopitar blades, each with a different finish:

Does anyone know what the difference is between the checkerboard & non-checkerboard patterns? Is it just cosmetic, or is it indicative of something more?

Thanks

the one the right is prepeg construction and the one on the left was on the innovative tru-one. i like the tighter weave on the right one. i think tblfan or buzz would have more info for you. overall both blades are great.

What he said; the one on the left is a "pre-peg" (or was it prepreg design). I seem to recall the theory was that it was stronger because of the opposing direction of the weaves. Just a different blade type is all. I seem to recall Bauer tried using this same science on a recent stick (X60?). In the end I suppose it just ended up being a marketing gimmick.

The Warrior blades with the small weave (RTM or something?) have been absolute tanks for me. I bought 6 at least 2 years ago and I've broken 2 (1 got stuck in the boards), currently using 2 and I've still got 2 spare. Granted they don't look as good, but I really like them and cant speak highly enough of them.

In my experience with the two styles, I've found the RTM (smaller weave) to have much better feel and durability. The pre-preg (larger weave) was slightly lighter, but I didn't like them as much.

Thanks for the replies guys. Here's the thing - I've seen both the styles your referring to above, but I've also seen a third style (which doesn't feature the tight weave, or the checkerboard pattern). It looks just like plain, flat, black:

Here's the situation: I purchased an inno mania stick, which I've seen described as a pro stock Warrior dolomite that was rejected by quality control (slightly too heavy, off flex etc.). I guess my question is, are pro dolo blades only the tight weave & checkerboard, or do they also come in this flat black design? Any thoughts as to what the construction of this blade is?

ive seen the rtm blades on the lower end warriors... the heavier ones.. i always assumed it was more glass than carbon/kevlar and was painted solid black just cuz.... as in the anthem swizzle etc.. i thought the dolomites/kroniks checkerboard weave was associated with a lighter blade/higher quality/better performing blade

It looks to me like it's a spraypaint job by the player.

We don't make any pro stick blades from the factory without some type of weave when it is in it's raw form (with clear coat only) 12k is the larger square weave, 3k is the smaller, tighter weave.

Well I guess that's marketing for you. Big vs Small weave has been discussed before, although I don't think I've ever read a definite answer someone did mention that aerospace-grade carbon fibre is small weave, so take from that what you will. It would make sense to me that a a small, denser weave would take more punishment.
