One95 vs TotalOne sticks

Recommended Posts

About to get a new stick as my xxxx is pretty beat up and have a quick question - been googling away and not really found an answer.

Cash is not an issue regarding both sticks so remove this from equation for this.

The One95 stick is comes up again and again in the "best and worst bang for buck" topic as being a brilliant piece of kit.

However they are hard to get hold of in the UK.

The Total One is readily available in the uk.

Is the TotalOne an improvement over the One95? I don't mean in terms of techno babbleas I realise the TotalOne is constructed of different material etc

What I am trying to get at is:

If you used a One95 in the past, and have bought a TotalOne, which do you now find the best of the two?

I'm swayed towards the One95 at present, it's a good sign how many people highly rate it, especially it's feel and durability.

Or am I wasting time trying to locate this stick and am I better grabbing a Total One?

Apologies if this has been covered, I've tried the search function etc but think my question was a bit too specific!

Help a Scotsman oooot!

No problems with the totalone here I have had mine about 2 months now. Blade is still suprisingly strong.

I have played with both sticks I have a hard time breaking down minut details of each stick to me they play very simliar. If I had to choose again I would go with whatever was cheaper. I did not see a huge advantage between the one95 X60 or totalone. Which I have used for extended periods of time. I do know the totalone shaft was very splippery and i had to candycane it.

I have used both sticks and i prefer the balance of the total one and feel, the one95 does have a better blade but not so much that it affects my shot. The one95 is a strong stick and i have used the totalone and it is taking a beating. I find the mid kick in the total one is better and my shot is definetly harder.

Bauer must be very inconsistent if your blade is strong. how often do you skate? Mine was soft in 2 weeks

Thanks everyone for their feedback, really really appreciated.

Followed the ebay.com advice and found loads on the US site, managed to snag two brand new senior 87 flex shafts for $189 (for both).

Seriously though, cheers for the input, it was good getting the info from folks that have used these.

Doh thought I'd written that prior to this lol

It was 2 x One95 shafts, senior 87 flex and brand new. Guy was pretty good, bought them and within 30 mins he emailed the shipping number for USPS and they're on their way.

I thought you were looking for OPS. Since you got shafts, what do you plan to use for blades?

Yeah when I originally posted yesterday I had in mind a OPS, however the price for two new shafts was pretty good and I can play around with different blades.

Regarding blade...not got that far yet. Had in mind getting the matching blade for the shaft unless there's better? Can still get hold of the blades at my LHS apparently.

Pretty sure these shafts take a standard blade too.

Soo, open to suggestions on blade. I currently use a p91a on my xxxx but like the look of the Gagne patterns too.

Best curve I ever used was on my much loved Titan TPM 4020, wish I could determine what that is.

My understanding is that One95 shafts take traditional/standard blades. I don't know enough to recommend a different blade for you; it's nice you can get those readily at your LHS.

Don't know your Titan curve, but you can look at pictures of blade patterns at icewarehouse and http://patterndb.org/main.php?g2_itemId=1844.

Hopefully you've at least got the lie of your Titan.

go for a one95 blade if you can find one. I've had good luck with easton z-carbons/s15's/s19's too

Sounds a plan, and thanks for the heads up on the Easton Blades - had a z carbon in a Bubble at one point and it was rather good.

@ Wrangler - no idea what the lie is on the Titan, time to do a bit of research tonight I think....!Cheers for the link to the pattern database - will make things a bit easier in finding out just what it is.

Again, thanks for everyone's responses, proper appreciated :)

I just bought a TO blade for my shaft and it cracked after three skates. I never had this problem with a One95, but it may be an anomaly. I'll probably try another before deciding.

My ops total one is squeaking near the heel when I torque it with my hands. I have had it for two months but I still have one95's and the blades are still really solid in those.

Is there a general consensus about the feel of the TotalOne and one95?

(talking about OPS)

My one95 is about to go, and If I can't find another in my preferred specs I might have to consider the TotalONE.

I love the one95, is the TotalONE similar in any way?

The blade feel is a little different. I have heard from a few guys I skate with that the one100 feels a lot like their old one95's as far as blade feel goes.

"one100 feels a lot like their old one95's as far as blade feel goes."

I was searching the archives and saw another thread that essentially said this. As a guy

who just snapped his last One95 I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else thinks that the

One100 is closer to the old One95 than the Total One is.

Just trying to get back to the old One95 blade feel.

Thanks Stryker. That one contradicts the other thread I was look at. And from this one it sounds like the Total one may kick better

but the blade feel isn't there compared to the One95. Not the answer I was hoping for.

you might want to be careful jumping into assumptions here given how subjective things such as feel are...

yes the feel of the T1 is different from One95, to me personally it feels a little more crisp, but still not pingy so I actually prefer the way T1 feels over One95 and I'm a long time One95 user (went through 4 One95s in the past 2 years).

in fact I like the feel so much that One95 feels a bit too dull to me now, not to mention the blade on T1 is lighter which makes stickhandling even better for me,

so I'd suggest the usual: if at all possible try it out & see for yourself. then decide.

That's pretty much the impression I got when switching back and forth between the two. As well, it could just be me but I found the T1 at the same length as a One95 was noticeably stiffer. If I did it again I'd go with a 77 flex T1 instead of the 87. Just my thoughts

I'm looking to find a stick similar to my One95 (pm9, 95 flex) but made longer since I'm 6'5. I think the one95 is a low kick OPS- any other companies out there that make a similar product but longer? I'm pretty sure warrior has some in 63 inches but unsure of others.
