My gloves are too tight after re-palming?

Recommended Posts

I had my Eagle X90's repalmed and they feel extremely tight now? Before they almost had too much matierial on the palms, and were very loose? Now too tight? In palms? Anything I can do to loosen these palms up? Thanks

Depending on the material, playing, sweating, and flexing them should begin the loosening process. Not sure how much more wiggle room you need, but as you play they will only open up more.

Throw them in the dryer on high heat for like 10 or 15 mins to get them good and warm and then bend the fingers the opposite direction (over the back of the glove) and that should help stretch the material and loosen them up. You can either hold them there or flex it back and forth, both will do the same job. That's what I did with my gloves.

Depending on the material high heat may shrink the glove, or parts of the glove.

I doubt there is any cotton or wool in the gloves, so heat shouldn't shrink them.

Shayno - whenever I've had Peaches repalm my stuff with digital it's always come back a 'little' tighter. But after a skate or two, they loosen up a tad and flex right back to where they were prior. I don't know what palm you chose, but that's been my experience.

You can try bending the fingers backwards, taping them down and let it sit for a while. That should loosen them up.

Why does it seem like pro used/return gloves are so much more broken in. Way more broken in than what you are able to do with your own gloves. Do the equipment guys have some special touch?

I have the opposite problem - my TPS R8 gloves fit great for the first month, until they stretch out and get two sizes bigger. Any ideas how to shrink digi-tec palms without making them hard? Washer and dryer maybe? Steam and heat gun?

Thanks for input guys and gals....I had FIBM put MSH2 palms on, but they feel way to tight...I have played 5 or 6 times with them and still really tight? I am not sure what happened? Thanks though! Maybe I could soak them with water before playing next time?

Agred. I have exactly the same problem, on R8's. Great feeling at first, now I feel like Im using a 15'' (original size was 13'').

Any suggestions?

Only thing that's helped for me is to wash them in hot water and run them through the dryer. Lot of people wouldn't recommend it, but it seems to bring them back from 15" to like 13.5". Nothing like new, but better than they were anyway.

I have extremely long fingers...but very skinny flat hands. This has always been an issue for me. I usually have to stuff my gloves with extra foam to get rid of the volume on almost every glove (14"). The TPS R8s were a great fit when I did this. You know the material with foam that flaps out? I will take some foam (or the same wrapped pad from an old glove) and put it underneath. That eliminates the volume problem.

They stretched out over the course of maybe 6 months, but they're not worn out at all. I use Tacki-mac grips and they really cut down on palm wear.
