Curve Help

Recommended Posts

Actually, heel curves are still way more popular. Toe curves are more popular now than in the past, but still well behind heel and mid curves.

That's great!

WHY however do they use Toe curves. What are the benefits of the Toe curve.

It's what they feel comfortable with, that's WHY they use them. Most of them are forwards and many of them are European. Easier to toe drag, better for wrist shots if you have a "pick and fling" shooting style shooting motion.

So for toe drags and wrist shots.

No, for wrist shots with a certain type of shooting motion, not all wrist shots and not for everyone.

What type of blade pattern do you suggest for better stickhandling? Thanks

I suggest practice and not looking for shortcuts, just like with shooting.

Perhaps you misunderstood the question.

Not looking for shortcuts but rather what type of curve is better for stickhandling vs another type of curve.

Obviously if someone is good they can use any type of curve. But I doubt a curve like ovechkins would work for a weaker stickhandler.

You would probally be best with a smaller mid curve. Try one like an Iginla or Zetterberg, they are the most basic and are usually pretty good for the typical average joe (if you're like me )

Whatever curve you use, you will improve with practice. No curve is better than another and preferences will vary from one person to the next. If you have issues with one aspect of the blade, work a little harder and you will figure out how to get around it. You really should be able to stickhandle no matter what type of curve you use.

mid curves with a bit of an open flare is generally more beneficial for stick handling. you'd also want a lie that matches how you stick handle.

keep in mind when switching curves there will be a period of decreased performance as you get used to the new curve. in the end you may have a prefer your old curve because it matches how you stick handle.

having said all that, you might end up switching curves for years and you'll never find one you like. at some point you have to pick a curve and stick with it, and work on your short comings then, and the sooner you do so the more beneficial in the long run.

Try as many as you can! And then try them again!

You will eventually figure out what is best for you. I have. A little less kink and wedge at the beginning like a p91a turning into a slight mid wedge then curling at the toe. Lie like a p92.

Somewhere in between the p92 and Ovi Prostock. Now if only!!!!!!!!!!

But, I figured this out by trying all types of curves. Or you could save all the money and just find one that works and stick with it.

I had a one95 like that. I was sad when I blocked my friends slapshot with the shaft and it broke
