glove with a lot of back roll/cuff protection?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any recommendations for a good glove with good back roll and cuff protection. I've recently been getting whacked a lot there, and had a few hand issues from it. i just want an overall more protective glove!

I have found my Bauer 4-rolls to be very protective.

I was maybe looking into those, but im unsure of the fit, my hands are kind of narrow, and i dont want to go a size down if i can help it

Bauer 4-rolls since they returned to the market are hardly "a glove with a lot of backroll/cuff protection." They're a lot softer now.

Eagle, meh. PPF is ok but it could be a lot better.

Warrior Franchise? They're ok but not extremely protective.

If you want all around protection: Easton Z-air, Easton pro 4-roll, Mission M-1/L7, Warrior Projekt.

I would agree about the L7, but they don't have much of a cuff. I actually got slot of slashes in areas that aren't reachable in my x60s

Is the Projekt the glove JR did a review on? If so I'll third it. Or if you can find, I found the Rbk/CCM Tacks gloves to be very protective, the foams and plastics are pretty good.

No glove will have more protection in this area than an Eagle Sentry.

I second the Warrior Projekt.

Forgot about the Sentry, absolutely agreed.

Maybe try the new Vapors unless you're not a fan of tight fingers. From the review I saw, the cuff holds onto your arm so if you flex your wrist, it's still covered.

That's absolutely the worst suggestion possible. The Vapor series has NEVER been a protective glove, specifically in the cuff area. In fact, it's one of the least protective gloves on the market.

I'll throw in another vote for the Projekts, don't own them myself but have tried them on in store and they seem tank-like, plus they should be good for the OPs narrow hands since they're definitely very snug/tight fitting through most of the hand (still nice and mobile around the wrist though). Really liked them in-store, almost bought em, but decided to give my wallet a break :)

Ditto. Vapor XXXX Pro's + average slash = one broken ring finger and a gnarled up middle finger. Also (previous to that incident) blocked a roller shot in the upper cuff and nearly broke my wrist! Mobile glove, but horrid protection.

So far my Franchise custom Pro Packs have done well. A friend has Eraser Pro's and there are some durability issues. The plastic inserts wore through the tufftek and are showing. The palm also wore through quickly. They are protective though...

What were those easton gloves that were like an update of the Air gloves? It had like a solid 3" x 4" piece on the back roll area I think.

How were the protection on those?

EDIT: These are probably difficult to find anymore though.

The Sentry and Projekts are definitely in a league of their own. Feel free to test them yourself, I'd take a two hand slash in either to prove it.

its really hard to find those warriors around to try on, and im coming from vapors, and im tired of feeling like im getting broken fingers. i've tried slash guards i just hate the feel of them. im thinking of doing a set of the custom warriors i was just hoping to not drop 200+ on the glove if i can help it.

I'm going to add this to the list cause no one mentioned them and I love 'em!

RBK 8 or 9K Kinetifit

The cuff sticks to your wrist and they're pretty light yet protective. They feel like Vapors. Pretty tight but very comfy if you have narrow hands.

These 10K are practically the same (prob even better protection)

I have the pro packs for protection in my Franchises and those things are nice! Very hard and I whacked my hand with it a few times and didn't even notice it. I was really surprised they were that tough.
