First Goal!

So in my first Men's League exhibition game last night (and also my first game since I was a child), I scored in the first couple minutes! I planted myself in front of the net and banged in a rebound (while being knocked on my ass). I just saw the puck go in and on my way back to center ice, the ref grabbed me and asked what number I was (I didn't have a number on my jersey yet).

I played goal as a kid (at an age where there was no blocker or trapper, just the shin pads), so this was my first EVER goal.

Does anyone else remember their first goal, especially those who began playing hockey as adults?

I started playing last summer... I was in the slot and our only guy who played before was in the corner.... He centered one and it found my stick. It was slo-mo. I shot , it hit the goalies pad and bounced up over the goalie and in.... I was stoked. I had 2 goals that first season. Winter season I scored 5 goals. Yesterday was first game of the Spring/Summer 2011 season. I scored 2 goals. I could set a new career high HAHA! We also went to a tourney ( with more experienced players than me) and I somehow was 3rd in the whole tourney in scoring with 3 goals and 7 assists in 4 games.

wrap around goal. followed it up with another in the same shift just after the subsequent face off, and it was a weird one: right winger fakes a slapshot and passes it into the high slot where my centreman one times it... but it goes off the heel of his stick, right to me, where i one timed it in. goalie had no idea what was going on.

in front of the net is the way to go . I am not afraid to get hit by pucks so i get a lot of deflections and rebounds ...

I just started playing in january. My first goal came in my 4th game. It was a rebound, the goalie was still down and I settled the puck and tucked it around her foot. I was in shock that I did it - I'd been trying and coming so close so many times before. The best part was seeing my team get so excited about it for me. I haven't scored since. :) I like to joke about my 1-game scoring streak.

I was 10 years old, intercepted a pass in front of the net, scored above the goalie's shoulder I think? That was a loooong time ago. Since that goal, I think I never ever passed the puck in front of my own net ahah

I have no clue at all. Maybe I had a concussion that removed it from memory, but I imagine it was probably a breakaway, deke, backhand goal since I have used that since I first started organized hockey.

I don't even remember my first goal this season let alone my first goal ever. It's certainly not because I score so many, I just have a really bad memory.

Just started playing hockey last year at the age of 20. My first season of adult league started this February. Scored in my second game.

I was playing center and our team had the offensive zone. RD had the puck at the point. I was near the net and I realized nobody was around me so I just planted myself on the backdoor of the crease hoping for a rebound or a tip. The D-man shot a lazer of a wrister wide left. I stuck my stick out and deflected it perfectly in the probably 4 inch window between the post and goalie's pads. I just kinda stood there in disbelief for a moment, haha. It's what I was TRYING to do but I couldn't believe I actually DID it.

My second goal was a little more fun, playing the same team, same goalie, 5 games after the previous goal. Playing LD, one of my wingers is pinned on the left size boards at the hashmarks in our zone and he kicks the puck out to the faceoff dot. I see it squirt out so I jump up and take it, burn everyone right up the middle (my team and theirs), wait for the goalie to drop and snap it top shelf.

Depressing that my first two goals ever are probably my prettiest I'll ever score. :(

Outdoor roller, I was lined up on the left side of an offensive zone faceoff at the right dot, ball popped out and I wired it into the mostly open net. did a windmill celebration I was so stoked haha.

First Men's league goal was a garbage goal, which bummed me out because the shift before It I picked the corner from a bad angle but rang it off the bar and away from the net. That would have been a nice first goal!

My first goal (late September/early October last year) was a simple rebound close to a net, over right pad of goalie lying downd after a shot. Could be my 5th-6th game.

But a goal I'm thrilled the most about so far was my first ever controled and intentional deflection. I did exactly what I had always dreamed about. Slight touch of a blade to an ideal one feet high shot from a D. I felt like in heaven

Moments like this, that's exactly why I've started to play hockey at 25, sport I've always wanted to do but never really had a chance until recently

Congratulations on that! The feeling had to be awesome! I can't wait till Summer for the league to start so I can eventually get an assist or goal! Keep up the scoring!

I somehow remember my first goal as a youth. I was 7 and it was first year playing. I somehow got on a breakaway or something, but the defenseman caught up to me and knocked me down. I slid into the goalie and the puck somehow ended up in the net.

It took me a good 3-4 of playing hockey before I started scoring goals that weren't accidental.

I actually found out that apparently the goal I scored counted - as in, it wasn't an exhibition game. Apparently for some reason in our league they still have games after the championships. Kind of a "trophys been handed out, but you guys might as well play anyway" thing. I scored in one of those games. I'm still going to consider it exhibition though.

Do you guys know if they ever let you keep the puck in mens league? I imagine not too many people score their first goals as adults.. lol.

I scored my first goal ever this year. I just started playing and in my second game a slapped a one timer in from the slot. I didnt celebrate though because we were losing 5-0 at that point. It still felt good to get my first goal in an actual game.

My first season playing (under 14), penultimate game of the season and we needed to win to progress to playoffs. I took a slapshot from the point, it clipped the goalies pad and just went in.

It was also the only game game my dad went to that year.

Had just started playing years ago, and was invited to join a team... we had a scrimmage game against one of the top teams in the country back then. Ripped a wrister over the goalie's shoulder. Scored two in that game in a 5-2 loss.

I actually have one that I had forgotten about until my dad brought it up this weekend during intermission on the caps game. I was a first year peewee playing house league and at the end of the year we'd have a scrimmage against the peewee travel team. The Puck was in our offensive zone and they were doing a standard breakout, I went to pinch the boards and saw their best player (who was a foot taller than I) headed at me at full speed. I ended up bending down to brace for impact only to realize he went head over heels over top of me. I looked down and the Puck was held in with my skate. I ended up ripping a wrister from the top of the faceoff circle right over the goalies shoulder, only to hear the travel coach say.. "who the hell is that kid". I ended up making travel team the next year and had ever since

Hi guys my first post here. i played alot of hockey as a kid growing up in Maine, had some offers to play in college but passed to sign a pro baseball contract. 6 years later and just released, I regret that decision.

Anyway my first goal was when I was 6. Playing LW in front of the net got a pass through the crease and beat the sliding goalie 5 hole.

I scored my first goal in the first competitive hockey game I ever played for the team that played its first game ever so it is pretty special. I still have the puck at home from that game ;) Of course it's just beer league, but hey!

I play defense and just put a wristshot from the left point on net which grazed a defenders shinpad and went in through the pads of the goalie. Was pretty special back then, no doubt. Scoring goals is great, especially for defensmen. Gotta love those big shots from the blue line!

I got my first goal tonight. I stripped the puck from the D man in there own zone and skated back a bit and BAM! I snipped the top corner of the cross bar and it went it. Of course I celebrated with just the arm swing cause it was so special and for a second I didn't think it hit the inside net. Ref even gave me the puck after the game. It was just so amazing honestly. Never forget it
