Beer league assault...

Yowzers!

I've been two handed in the neck before, but the player was already on the deck so it wasn't that bad (though I was 14 at the time and my old man in the stands was none too impressed!). This is something else entirely. The worst I've seen is still the slash to the face in the NHL (can't recall who it was), as it obviously did more damage but the intent with this is horrific.

is it bad the first thing I noticed is everyone on the team is wearing teal jerseys and one guy wearing white . I then thought I bet the kid in the white is a ringer* the team brought and he is the idiot that causes problems.

HAHA! I saw and thought the same exact thing!!

Better players tend to be a little more preoccupied with the skill of the game.

But, there are exceptions everywhere.

As a ref, I think part of it is that guys that have played higher and higher levels are used to taking little hacks and hooks. Guys that play C league aren't used to that, and go ballistic when they get tripped or hooked.

Have seen this vid before, and am just as disgusted by it now, as I was when I first saw it. Board member, CapsFan, took a 2-hander to the head in pickup one time, about 6 years ago or so. He was fine, thank goodness. The other guy was immediately surrounded, as this particular pickup time slot was usually populated by the same group of guys, and we had all grown into friends of sort. This guy had never been there before, that we had seen. CapsFan got to his feet quick, and waved everyone off so he could tend to his own matters. The guy wouldn't drop the remainder of his stick, which was most of the shaft; the impact had broke the blade off his stick. He basically backed his way off the ice and out of the rink, keeping everyone at bay with his stick.

I still have that blade in my garage. Every year I intend to make a CapsFan halloween costume, by making it look like that blade is embedded in my helmet, but I never get around to it.

Fun fact about the guy, he returned to the rink for a pick up session like a year later, and we all remembered him. After a little chirping, to confirm it was in fact him, we were all over his game. No one hit him, or cheap shotted him, just stepped up our game around him to shut him down over and over. As he got frustrated, the mouthing off started going both ways. He left the ice, and the building. A friend of one of the guys on the ice came running over to tell us he heard the guy say something about getting a gun. So, I told him to find the manager on duty and tell him, and I called the police from my cell in the locker room. The kid never came back in luckily. The police actually got there pretty quick, hung out for a bit and that was the end of it. kept our heads on a swivel going through the parking lot afterwards, but have never seen that kid again.
