APX vs. X60

Recommended Posts

Companies usually give us a couple days to unbox them, label them etc before the actual release date so we they can be ready on launch. Thank god this year its a little later in the year than last, so there are less tournaments, so hopefully less temptation. So many horror stories over the years its ridiculous.

People selling the skates before the release date? I'm guessing Bauer wouldn't take to kindly to that. Do manufacturers fine stores in these instances?

I just got to try them on... sizes feel different to me than old vapors. Feels more roomier. I have lost 15 pounds tho since I've been able to try on any vapor and my supremes have felt a little more roomier so maybe my foot has slightly shrunk. Great skate though, much stiffer laterally then x60

Thanks. I ask because my Vapor XXXX's were good in the forefoot, and a wee bit snug in the toe box. My X60's were bothering me enough that I had to sell them. How did you find the heel in the APX? Wider than the X60?

I found the x60 heel better than the Vapor XXXX's.

I was just informed that the custom APXs I ordered might not be produced until late June, bummer!!!!!

I think JR mentioned something about custom APX's not being made until the summer and the factory shuts down for a month in the summer as well...

I don't remember enough from those to comment. I'm a supreme guy

I was able to try them on at the LHS I work at. To preface this, I currently wear a 10EE X:60 LE with Superfeet that fit great, but I'm down a FULL SIZE in the APX. Still in the EE, just a 9. Most of the fit feels the same, but the toe box has more volume for sure. The skate itself is very stiff, I'd say stiffer than the TO. I almost has trouble tying it tight enough. Incredible support and the tongue is great though. Feels nice and light on your foot.

Let's just say, I wanna find a buyer for my X:60s :D

I tried the APX's on at work tonight for 5 minutes. I only had them on for a moment so first impressions as follows: WOW these are STIFF! You really need to bake these to enjoy them. I usually wear a 10 or 9 3/4, I may need to hit a 9 1/2 in APX an boot. The reason I think that?

The toe box was wider than I had anticipated. I am wearing x60's at the moment and feel the toe box is comopletely different. The liner of the APX is top drawer, possibly my favorite part of the skate. The tongue was a bit thin for my taste. It does however give good flex to a stiff boot. Needless to say they are extremely light. The top three eyelets are reinforced, a welcomed addition when dropping that $$$(Im sure you Total ONE users agree) I'm going to give them my full attention tomorrow. Then give my full review...

I tried on the APX today at my LHS. I'm using Vapor x60 LE's in a 9 1/2 D now. Started out with a APX 9 1/2 and realized right away that it was to big. Like the above poster said, there seems to be more room in the toe box. The APX size 9 felt great, but I would definitely be trimming the insole flaps off. The skate was really light and stiff as you would expect. Every picture I've seen of the APX skate,it appears there is a gap between the 3rd and 4th eyelets but the ones I've seen in person there seems to be a uniform spacing like my x60's. Overall, a pretty impressive skate!

Tried them on tonight. The forefoot and toe box did feel a bit roomier than the X60. However, I did have a different issue. I was getting serious pain on the top of my feet from the tongue. The clerk said it was because of my higher arch. I never had this type of pain with my XXXX's or X60's. Is the eyelet orientation lower on the APX? Could it just have been s freak thing with the tongue that will go away after baking?

Interesting, because the 40s and x60s definitely were not made for the flat footed. I'd welcome that change!

Im glad they made huge strides in the boot. I tried a pair back in March and really like them. They are at least a half a size smaller though.

is it me or why do all the pros wear the normal ls2 blade?
