Bauer totalone shoulder pad or reebok 11k

Recommended Posts

Both are great shoulder pads offering excellent protection. I agree with the other posters, it comes down to fit. Whatever fits you the best!

Fit is the deciding factor, if you are playing in a non checking league you probably dont need high end shoulder pads, just my personal opinion.

If you play in a non checking league I would avoid high end shoulder pads. They just weight you down. Get something in the middle, they will be lighter and they cost less. I just figured it out after years of only the most costly equipment that the middle of the road stuff is just as good if not better in some situations.

im going to go with the total one shouldies because bauer usually mackes the most protective equipment

Sounds like you're buying Bauer because you like their marketing better. Bauer has never had a good reputation with protective equipment.

I'll have to agree. I personally have resold my Bauer protectives on Craigslist or ebay

You should get what fits better. But today i picked up totalone shoulder pads and first impressions are wow they're light! I got a medium and they are lighter than than my one 75's which were a small. Also they are incredibly mobile I know usualy mobility can be a problem on highend pads but these are very low profile and mobile, i definantly reccomend them.

Asking which one without giving a specific question is kinda tough to answer...if you asked "which one has more padding in the sternum area" or "which one has lower shoulder caps", then we'd be like "get _______!"

But....instead we go with the default answer of "whichever fits you better" ;)

Fit and style of play is key in my opinion. I've had Jofa, Bauer, and Sherwood sholderpads. In my experience the Bauer's were the least favorite becuase they broke down to easily and became loose to fast as well as the stitching wasn't that great. I had to sew the caps back in place a few times (because I'm cheap.) Jofa's were my favorite in contact becuase they were light and fit snug. They offered great flexibility as well as protection. Right now though I'm only playing mens league so I went with the Sherwood old time hockey shoulderpads. Got to say they are my favorite shoulderpads I've owned but would clearly not recommend them if you want protection, they are really for show if your league requires shouldpads. But they are flexible and fit great. A friend of mine recently purchased last years models of the Reebok shoulderpads top line. He is in love he says they have a little less flexibility but can be hit with anything with little to no discomfort.

I would not go with Bauer again.

Neither, go with the 9k. I felt that this years batch of supreme protective equipment was made very cheaply. The pads dont seem to be segmented very well and pads themselves seem to not move with you very well. The 11k has very good protection but it is very bulky. Go with the 9k because it offers great protection and is extremely light and mobile. Reebok/Jofa has always made the best protective equipment.
