There's a first for everything...

No different than a $150, then $200, now $250USD retail stick.

Well, it is a little different in that no matter the brand of helmet the appearance has to be uniform with the rest of the team. This isn't the case with sticks.

Now, if a team decided that all of their players' helmets were matte finished then now we're talkin.'

This thread is in Ice Hockey Equipment Forum not NHL Equipment Forum. So I think Marcelo's comment/observation if fair.

This is true. But anyway, if an organization (league) were to adapt this concept, surely it would have to be universal. As far as the NHL, I think it would definitely work. It's neither better nor worse than the current "shiny" helmet finish. So there isn't a need to fix what isn't broken. However, on a retail level, companies should absolutely offer this option, I love it.

What kind of shoulders is Penner wearing? They look funky.

Farrell i do believe, i know this one because all of their stuff has that funky looking square padding 2. because of the left shoulder cap reads "Farrell";)

BTW..YOur name Cracked me up! not sure why though..hmmph. but props. it is very clever!

Wow at first glance that looked like Ryan Reynolds haha... Farrell HG600 I believe is the model number.

Hey Penner, watch out for "cougars". A little too much eyeballin' from one on the left.

Not at retail. Unless Warrior is screwing over smaller shops, hard. Our rep reported a BTH shipping date in the spring for the helmet.

They are releasing it to pros first. That way it can get actual attention (same way 11K helmet was in NHL11 and the only Reebok helmet you could use... to get people talking about it). They messed up when they released goalie stuff - they offered it at retail before a single pro would wear it. No one wore the gear, they just offered it at retail and initially it flopped.

Which is actually quite logical. You don't offer something with no one knowing about it, it will sit on shelves. Just how the S17 helmet sat on shelves... Easton enters helmet department, no one in NHL is wearing helmets, you see them in the store and go "what the hell is this?"

Are they gonna name it something obviously sexual or illegal? Because if they are I refuse to even try it on, let alone buy one.

Sadly if they do name it something like that it will probably sell better. Sigh...

Jimmy hat?

Gotta admit it is catchy! The Warrior Jimmy Hat!

No this is not what it is called and I am just messing around.

It seems they've toned it down a bit recently, which I'm certainly not complaining about. People have said it supposed to attract kids but when products such as the Johnson came out I was 13 I believe, and the name made me not want to buy Warrior.

Bottom line is that if it's a good product, I don't care what its called.

That sure was the case for a large number of NHLers.

Only would've been fitting if the person bought the Strokers too.

Thats true but theres no justifiable reason IMO to have a stick called the Johnson and matching gloves called the Strokers.

Yes there is. Its funny. I laughed out loud when I saw it and I'm not sure why people are being so hard on it. I personally think its halarious, slightly immature but funny none the less. So what if the matching gloves are called the strokers? There still pretty sweet gloves. I don't care what anything is named at all. I'm past all of that, I dont care about anything except if its comfortable and durable, if its named the stroker so be it. Wasn't it eagle that awhile ago had goalie cups with "the north pole" and "nutcase" on them? Nobody complained about that. I bet if bauer released a line of cups called nut huts or something people would scoop them right up.

i don't mind the naming. good products. some argue hockey is so traditional its alienating.

I disagree. Using silly names would be innocuous but names with obvious sexual connotations is wrong. Using them would alienate the moms and dads who buy kit for their little ones. And it's not a stretch to believe consumers would be loyal to brands they had when they were younger.

Are we still talking about the Johnson? That was like 4 years ago. Looking at the lineup now, the only thing that could be offensive is the "Bully" line, and thats already a big stretch. AK, AK27, Widow, Franchise, Bentley, Anthem, Bonafide, Dynasty, etc. there's really nothing shocking left.
