APX skate - T1 tongue?

Recommended Posts

I've been using the APX skates for 2 weeks now, and one thing that I do want to try on these skates are the Total One tongues with the inserts (because I want it really stiff). I know tongue conversions are possible, but would Bauer be willing to sell the Total One tongues seperately?

The insert needs to be locked in at the top. I'll bet it gets sloppy and rolls around off center of the tongue. Good luck!

So how'd it work?

yeah - I'm curious too...

based on the effect different tongue inserts have on T1s it should stiffen the skate considerably, which given how stiff APX is already might make them quite difficult to flex...

So how'd it work?

alright, well the inserts stayed in place well, i put tape at the top of them attaching them to the tongue. Skated in them for about 1.5 hours and i cant say i really noticed a difference. for the first few strides i could tell they were there but after that i could not notice them at all.

depending on how heavy/strong you are that'd be expected - I can't feel med inserts at all, and stiff is only a little better.

how about trying x-stiff? it should make a difference!

You can definitely order any tongue you want from Bauer. I don't think US LHS can order though. You need to go through Canada.

I have One100LE and I do not like the felt tongues so I had Bauer send me One95 tongues and then had another shop pit them in for $30.

Call Toronto Hockey Repair ask for Ally. They cost me about $120.

Hope that helps.

Most people wouldn't tell people that they stole something from work and then tell people where they work. Things like that can bite you in the ass.

oh, haha. Yea, just a pair that a customer left and have been in the back for a while. I meant to say "stole". I was actually given permission to take them. I'll keep my guard up for other comments like that. Thanks
