APX vs RS

Recommended Posts

I've used the search tool to try to find some info from the users of these sticks. I know some of the MSH members have used the apx and rs sticks at various times. I was just curious as to what those of you who have used the apx or rs or both thought of the sticks and how they compared to eachother. Also, if any of you could shed any light on which stick would I like more coming from a totalone as a person looking for good feel and really good releases on wristshots and snapshots, I don't take a lot of slapshots. I would just like to know which stick most people like better, granted it does depend a lot on personal preference but any insight on these sticks would be appreciated.

Just because they have different flex locations, to me they can not be compared.

TO and APX are really similar, only higher flex zone on the TO and thinner shaft on the APX.

I haven't tried the RS. It's gonna be a ultra low flex stick.

The dream stick would be supreme blade feel with vapor shaft, I think that's what they tried to do with the APX, except it doesn't kick as nicely as a true mid flex stick.

In all honesty, the one95 outperforms both of them combined (amazing puck feel, reasonable shaft geometry, rock solid durability). Such a shame the one100 isn't a repainted one95.

How much time have you spent shooting the APX? The One95 was solid for it's time, but not sure how it outperforms the TO or even the One100.

I feel the one95 outperforms the one100 easily and I always go back to my beaten one95 over my TO's by the end of the day.

If that works for you GREAT. I find that my one95's whipped out faster than my TO's. I liked the sweet spot in the shaft better on the One95 though. It's gonna be different for alot of players. I have to cut 2-3 inches off, so for example when you bump up the kick point a little bit it really changes for the guy that is cutting off 2-3 inches already. The APX's I am using feel great though I prefer mid kick it's a really fun stick to shoot. Through alot of one-timers and overall play POP is definitely maintained longer.

About 45min was a demo stick of the SE, the x60 impressed me a lot more back in the days (maybe because the xxxx sucked so much).

I reckon there's a noticeable weight difference with the one95 vs TO/APX .The one95 not being a very light stick imo.

But on the ice, the puck feel and the way the shaft flexes are prefect for me.

Actually I'm really looking forward to the AI9.

Down to earth, they are all very good sticks if you don't look at the price. Especially when you see what sherwood has to offer for 130dollars (= T90 2011).

If you like the way the total one shoots (loads and releases) you probably won't like the APX. They react very, very differently.

Chadd, assuming you tried both at SJ, which did you like best and why?

My favorite was the widow, then the Total One. I wasn't a big fan of the RS and the last vapor I liked was the XX. If I had to pick between the APX and RS, I would go with the Easton. Then again, those are just my preferences. For guys that shoot differently, the order could be fully reversed or any combination in between.

It always seems like people will always tend to force themselves to like a stick just because it's new or popular.

The APX feels a sturdier version of the X:60, although some say have the X:60s have felt more whippy.

I've only held and puck handled an RS, and it felt like an ST 2.0, where they made an already good all around stick a higher end design.

But as usual, everyone will have their own preference.

It is very hard to compare a stick that flexes differently, and even a non-grip vs grip version with different curve of the same stick will feel different.

RS, Widow, and because the XXXX and the X60 sucked so much IMHO, I'm staying away from the APX. Seems like the APX is the same design as the X60 just TotalONE construction methods.

RS and the Widow's shooting pop is on par with each other. Slapshots being the tricky ones im still working on for both. The feel goes to Warrior surprisingly. As good if not better than the one95 which i thought was the best feeling composite OPS to date. But the durability is Easton all the way. Go low kicks!

slaps are so bad with the RS. Everyone has a preference of course. Im surprised you have such a harsh opinion on the x60/ apx. The dual flex is crazy awsome ;)

when you can let go of quick snap shots and still bomb one timers its a pretty sweet stick.

I've been using the RS for over a month now (switched from the Totalone) and I love it. Shooting is great with the RS, and I find the puck comes "hotter" off the blade. Just my input
