twolinepass 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2011 On one of my current teams we have this guy who always says the right thing to lighten the mood. We ended up losing to the first place team 2-1 in the playoffs on a goal that was kicked in / went off one of our players with like 2 min left. We had two penalty shots(our guy missed the first one but the other team harassed him / left the bench during so they let him go again) and he missed both. The entire team is just shocked at how we lost and in the room after the game..We are sitting there in silence and he just goes "Looks like we need to work on our penalty shots" and the entire team just busted up and everyone was instantly in a better mood. badger_14 601 Report post Posted August 23, 2011 The skaters and goalies who actually responded to my ads and showed up for the first season of intramural our school had; without them and their word of mouth I don't think it would have lasted, we wouldn't have convinced the athletic department to keep it going, and it wouldn't still exist. Right on, guys. (note: I have since left school, but as far as I know, intramural hockey continues in the winter.)
xrickyb86x 1 Report post Posted August 23, 2011 I'm playing my last game this Saturday with the team I've been playing with for about a year and a half now. I've been playing with the same two guys since the beginning and I love them to death. I play right wing, our left wing is an older guy who doesn't skate all that well but his hockey sense is phenomenal. He's just always in the right place at the right time. He has a killer snapper too. Our center skates really well, has a good shot, and is always in the right place to grab a pass. We just have a really good chemistry. Any of us can throw away a pass along the boards and someone will be there to grab it. Like a sixth sense, we just know what we're all going to do at different points during the game.Best guys to drink with too.

IPv6Freely 2096 Report post Posted August 26, 2011 The guy who actually tells me how to play better. It wasn't until the last game of the season that somebody actually told me my positioning was bad, and explained where to be and why. I'm I'm doing something wrong (being a newbie), don't just get pissed off when I screw up, why not be constructive, instead? I don't know I'm doing something wrong until you tell me! We try to help each other out honestly and hope to improve our game from somebody elses perspective. I also like how our ref got involved in telling us what to do and where to be. For a beginner league, it helps a lot.

SouthpawTRK 1 Report post Posted September 3, 2011 My favorite team mate was one of the guys that I met during my first year of playing. He is a great player due to his skill, but more so for the fact that he is wiling to help out anyone that wanted to become a better player. The first season the Captain placed me on defense; I was already nervous about my first time playing (as well as I was not very good at skating backwards), but he helped me get better at playing defense. I owe the guy a lot.
s_franchise 5 Report post Posted September 4, 2011 My favorite is the guy that recently renewed my love for the sport. he was just starting out and i hadnt played any organized in YEARS, probably since high school[4-5 years]. He reminded me how much fun it was to play the game that at one point i was sick of, to watch him grow into the player he is now, a damn good one. its been a lot of fun and grew into a better friendship because of the game. i thank him for it. Scotty 8 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 Buddy of mine that I played with in high school and still play with now on my rec team. He's into the same stuff as I am in terms of weightlifting, nutrition, and obviously hockey. Guy is short, but very fast and throws himself around like a wrecking ball; however, he also has an incredible shot and is willing to pass and make the right play. He always seems to know where I'm at and we normally make great plays together.
