Has anybody ever camped out for black friday? I am eyeing that 51" TV at Walmart but have no idea what to expect as I have never done anything on black friday before. Wonder if I should go a couple hours early or what.

Is missing work or thanksgiving w/ your family worth a TV?

I think the serious shoppers crazies camp out for days sometimes before the "deals". And since wally-world is opening now at 10pm on t-giving it will likely be worse.

To me, no sale is worth black friday. Ever.

But to each their own.

I usually go two hours before, but I also live in Fl where the old people could care less in my county.Number21 is right how ever when it comes to Tv's, some people camp for a day. This is probably my fav day since I get newer games and blu-rays so cheap, so it expands my collection for cheap. Thus why I am a Cheap Ass Gamer :-)

Anyways, here is the Best Buy ad scan.

I'm not talking days. I'm not going more that 2 hours before. Guess camping out was the wrong word. I would like to just walk in at 12 and pick it up but would wait an hour maybe 2 to try get it. And my family never has celebrated thanksgiving. To me it's just another day I happen to get off work for.

Yeah, thats a good tablet. I was hoping you were looking at TV's other than an Emerson, the only good thing about them is that you can turn a profit on Craigslist easily. Hell, I remember last year I made $160 just waiting for stuff outside stores for my friends and family. Hell I dont sleep so it was a win win.

Now, just waiting on Gamestop and K-Mart since I know amazon will price match a lot.

Toys R Us

Also, I didn't see this in the Best Buy ad but, I will be picking this up.

$29.99 Title:

Star Wars Episodes IV-VI Trilogy

In this area, people are so cheap that they will camp at least a day in advance for these sales. I'd rather not waste a day to save a few bucks.

As much as a Star Wars fan I am, I never camped out for any of them. The longest I waited for something was 2 hours, and that was for some concert tickets.

Ever since that greeter was trampled at a Walmart in '08, it works differently. I worked there in Nov. 2009 and basically what happened at our store (btw, 24 hour store FYI) was that people were able to come in around 9pm and start lining up. You'd get a ticket to show your place in line, and then they'd basically make you wait in line until noon, when the first people with tickets would be able to select the items they wanted from the sale. I believe it was limited, to prevent mayhem, so if you got a ticket for the TV you couldn't also get the $190 laptop, etc. So its not a madhouse anymore at Walmart, it's just an excruciatingly annoying wait until midnight. And bathroom/refreshments breaks are all but forbidden.

I think Clerks 2 was the only movie I ever saw on opening weekend and I'm not sure if we went on Friday or Saturday.

My son has a tournament in the States that weekend, I've never been down on a Black Friday before, but I have to say I'm looking forward to it!

I absolutely love that the stores have started opening up on Thursday night. My biorhythms are a lot more attuned with staying up late than getting up early! Plus WalMart is the closest store to the house (about a mile away), so we just bring competitors' ads and ask them to price match. We were pretty much finished shopping at 1:30am last year.

This is turning into "random items on sale somewhere"

If we had to delete the hockey related topic, what makes you think it would be ok to do it for other stuff?
