Advantage of Superfeet Yellow?

Recommended Posts

I thought the superfeet black are the thinest they make. I was told to go with the black and couldn't be happier honestly. Of course, I'd love customs, but I'll get it eventually when these SF blacks are in bad shape.

That was not what the product was designed for. I thought it was an arch support as well but the positioning of where the 'arch' supposedly is is actually a bit further back than where most people's arches really are. Superfeet themselves even describe that 'arched' area as an 'elevated heel' : http://www.superfeet...key/Yellow.aspx

Even SF black (without the heel lift) still has the description of that area as an elevated heel rather than an arch.

edit : not 100% sure on the mechanics of it, but there are others here that can tell you more or correct me if I'm wrong

All they are saying is that skates (as well as cycling shoes) have an elevated heel and that the insole accommodates for that type of product.

You focused on the wrong term.

Unless something drastic's happened in the last few months when I haven't been around hockey at all, pretty much all stock skate insoles do nothing at all for your feet except provide a little bit of cushioning. Kind of dumb considering how much it costs per skate - you'd think manufacturers would toss in a decent insole with at least the mid-high end skates.

The reason why that isn't done is because there are so many different foot and arch types; what might fit you perfectly won't fit the other person. So throw in a standard insole and the special-needs ones will swap them out for what they need.

I would like to ask you guys if someone have a feedback of how much the Yellows will affect volume and "stance" used on a Vapor skate.

I'm looking for a insole since i just see my feet not working that good on every kind of skate i get (mostly going on outside edges) and since i've just changed pair of skates, i would like to get myself the best i can in terms of fit.

Skates fit really well even with stock insole, its just a matter of getting better on ice!

Thank you :)

After reading a lot of feedback on here, I decided to purchase the yellow superfeet for my Easton skates. They do take up a bit of volume (to be expected) but what I gained in comfort was more than worth it. The specific benefits I gained were better heel lock and more support for my over-pronation. Basically, I just feel more solid on my skates with the superfeet. They also gave me a bit of a more aggressive stance, which was an added bonus.

I have custom superfeet yellow - they're great; but the whole concept of SIDAS makes more sense to me and I'll try that next (I have had my superfeet yellow for 6 months and they're pretty beat up) ; I have to travel further though for SIDAS. Do the SIDAS footbeds take up more room?

I don't have a pair of custom Superfeet to compare too, but I could post a picture of my SIDAS if that would help?

I can say the custom SIDAS take up less volume than the regular yellow Superfeet.

I'm unable to find any of the yellow ones locally, but a local shoe store has green ones that fit my skates well (and there's enough volume for them to fit). They felt good in my skates. The clerk knew nothing of the yellow ones and couldn't order them. Does anyone know how the green ones compare, and if they may be a good option to throw into my skates? I'm actually looking to reduce the amount of volume left over in the skate, especially in the forefoot area. The width is great, but my feet aren't as tall as the skates feel.

I also have a pair of gray Superfeet from a pair of Kors at home. Might those be a better option? Thanks!

There's plenty of info on superfeet.com as to insole and foot types; they mention yellow for skating.

I got mine at http://www.feetrelief.com/feetrelief/superfeet_yellow.htm. Shipping was pretty quick, as I recall.

I had the grey Shock Dr insoles in my last pair of skates and I liked them for what they were. I purchased a pair of Vapors and put the Superfeet in since they were the only ones available in my LHS. I love them. I think the volume at the heal is great and I don't notice any negative change in stance. Definitely a big plus over a stock insole.

Everyone's feet are different, but I'm a HUGE fan of my yellow superfeet. Without them I get some arch pain, I feel the pressure from tightly tied skates sort of makes my arch collapse a bit (no idea if that's what's actually happening, but that's where I feel like the arch pain comes from). With them I have no pain, and my foot just feels like it's supported better, I like the feeling of no negative space, my skates are nice and snug/well formed on the tops and sides of my feet, with superfeet I get that feeling along my soles too. Because of this, and the general way that they support my heel/arch, I feel like I don't have to tie my skates as tight to get that really locked in, snug feel, which also improves comfort. Basically, I feel more in control, like my skate is a more perfect fit to my foot in general, and they eliminate the bit of arch pain I get with stock insoles. For what it's worth, I use them in X40s.

It wasn't so much arch pain for me as the outer edge of my feet. The "5%" area in this unrelated photo:

bUzH8.jpg

The flat arches in the SF Yellow helped since my feet are fairly flat. I don't know exactly what they were doing for my feet, but when you go from wincing in pain just walking from dressing room to the bench... to feeling like you're not wearing skates at all, it's a pretty significant thing.

Though like people have said, everyones feet are different. They just happened to be exactly what I personally needed, I guess.

I tried Yellow Superfeet in my new Supreme one.8's the other night, and both my heels were numb and extremely sore by the end of the 1st period. My right ankle is weaker/pronates (which i'm trying to strenghten), and thought it would help that... I couldnt tell if it did help because all I could think of is the pain.

I will probably try the regular insoles next game.

I'm also transitioning from Vapor X:60's which may not be helping.

It can take some time to adjust to insoles.. if you're not used to having a supported arch in your foot, it can hurt quite a bit as things settle and stretch out.

If you're willing to drop more money on the project, getting insoles for your street shoes can help. Theoretically you spend more time wearing those, so you acclimate a bit faster and it's not such a shock to your feet when you put skates on.

But there's nothing wrong with trying other brands too.

Agreed. I was in so much pain when i used superfeet yellow, it what too much for me i returned them. Not only that, I bought them expecting it would help with some of my pronation with soft boots, it did not. The only thing it did was taking volume away from the boot, because my foot would not 'stretch' in the forefoot, and also made my skates feel 'longer'. I have pretty normal skinny foot, with a medium-high arch, and again the pain was unbearable with the superfeet, i was not able to stand up for 10mins after i removed the skates.

I was going to comment to one poster who said he/she gave them a try once, and decided they were not the right product, but you two above have said it. They will feel different, and maybe even a little bad at first (I was given free greens for my mid-cut hiking boots and at first they felt awful. I got used to them. Now they are my favourite boots to wear most places).

There is a reason there is a 60 day guarentee. I'd reccommend trying them out during a 2 week period where there were lots of skates/practices but no games as an optimal (do not want to mess with performance during a game).

I've skated in mine more than 10 times now & I love them. They give me way more support than the stock Vapor X:40 insoles & they didn't cause any volume issues for me either. When I start to get tired or lazy while skating I used to get a shaky, chatter effect with the Superfeet I don't get that nearly as much. I know they aren't an end all be all solution for everyone or every situation, but they have worked very well for me.

i used them for one week. you have to understand not everything will fit everybody. getting used to them just did not work for me. its great that they have a 60 day return policy so that everybody can try them and return them if they dont work.

I get that, I apologise if I jumped to conclusions based on your post. I read it as "I used it once" (as in one skate only) versus "I tried it for one period". My wife likewise hated her's in her skiboots.

When I wrote the "I'd reccommend..." part, I probably should have written "I reccommend to people coming into my retail place of employment...". They'd likely not work for me in most skates by removing practical volume from the boot.

Only downside to the 60 day return policy is that it means almost all the superfeet for sale on the rack have probably already been cut down to fit someone else's footwear, so anyone who does go out to buy some should definitely open the box prior to purchase and check them out.
