Most protective gloves

Recommended Posts

Recently, I frankly have become sick and tired of my current x60 pro gloves, I play junior and quite often take slashes, hacks, deflections and the odd shot to the hand. Most of the time it feels like there is no padding at all on these babies. Last night a deflected puck hit me in the last 2 fingers and they are now totally black (thankfully not broken) but these gloves just seem to have awfull protection. Anyone else experience this with these gloves. And what do you guys find to be the MOST PROTECTIVE gloves (especially fingers), cost aside.

I'm not sure about most protective on the market, but I've definitely taken my share of whacks with my Eagle X70s and they're built like tanks. I had bad experiences (like yours) with a pair of Response gloves and now I stick to classic type gloves rather than tapered/formfitting ones. I don't mind the extra negative space, I find it more comfortable.

The current Warrior Projekt gloves. I've used the gloves for over a year and have never had any issues with protection. They feature multi-density foams, air pockets (bone system) and plastic inserts. I've never come across a more protective glove. I also happen to prefer the tight fit.

JR made a video demonstrating how protective the backhand is:

There's also a good IW video:

i own 5 pairs of warrior franchises.. and i honestly cant find a glove that i like more. they are very protective! i own 2 pairs of pro stock, 1 pair of retail, and 2 pro series pair, and i cant say a bad thing about them. they are a bit pricey but for the protection/comfort they are worth it... im sticking with warrior they got it right with gloves

and to add to what five said - ive heard nothing but good things about the warrior luxe's as well

I dont have a lot of experience in terms of the different current models of gloves, as previous to this year i was using a very old beat up pair that i would repatch every now and again, but in the limited time I have had my reebok 7k kinetics, i have liked the moveable wrist slash protection. I did hurt a few fingers using these gloves, but i knocked a slap shot from the point down with my palm with enough force to knock the puck past the defenders, so its kind of my own fault, but hey it was the playoffs and i ended up getting a break away 5 holer.

They are a tighter fit glove, which was new for me getting used to as I always used an oversized 4 roll style glove before this year.

Overall I have no real complaints in the quality of the glove over the 16 games I have used them in thusfar, and will probably get another pair if I catch them on a good sale, now that I am back to playing more regularly.

althoma and 5MM, I agree with both.

I have the previous generation of those gloves, the Eraser Pro with the Bone system or whatever you call it. i took a shot to the thumbjoint last year and it really jolted me into reality... this coming from someone who blocks shots in every game... the shot came off a slapper, and hit me square on the joint. I thought it would be broken, but there was no pain, no numbness at all.

I have a pair of Luxes too and while they're nice gloves with good protection I think the Projekts are the more protective of the two - especially in the fingers. The bone system and hard plastic inserts are all over the Projekts and it feels like the bone system is only down the middle of the back roll, the middle and ring fingers on the Luxes. The index and baby fingers on the Luxes compress easily compared to the Projekts. Don't get me wrong, the Luxes are a solid glove, but if protection is the top priority then I think the Projekts are the most protective readily available glove.

I have no doubt the Eagle Sentry's are protective - I've never used them myself, but I know JYA is very knowledgeable so I trust his judgement. They'd likely be somewhat challenging to find now though.

I read 4 rolls are the most protective all round?

The newer versions have EPP and that will break down each time you get slashed. I would stay as far away from them as possible if I was in the same position as the first post.

Seems pretty weird to have EPP in gloves...wtf Bauer.

Easton E-Pros are very solid, so are the Bauer 4-Rolls. This of course leaves the Franchises are a great option too. Warrior Creepers are also fairly decent. Vapors were never really known for their protection

I'm a huge fan of Franchises. I'm on my third pair. However, I don't find stock franchises without plastic inserts all that protective. For protection, I find Eagle PPF's to be top notch.

Anyone else have complaints with x60 protection?

I have a pair of retail X60 pros and a pro stock pair. They're both not too bad protection-wise. Especially if you compare them to something like a Vapor XXXX or Vapor XX.
