Not necessarily. TPS was looking to sell, and nobody knew that was going on until after the deal failed. We hear a lot of information on this board, but we certainly don't hear it all.

Thanks for info, somebody mentioned that due to sharp drop in sale, Nike needs to make some moves, will Bauer be in the pot?

Look at the new Nike product line coming this season, not very hot stuff, a sign of slow down,i guess hockey customers is to smart to accept bad products, Nike is moving towards SMu products, pro shops hates this, a big sign of problems!!

I am sure every company has a price....

well said, and for the past few years, there have been rumors that bauer is for sale. the problem is that if its true, not many companies have the money, or don't want to spend that much money for the brand. but my hopes would be that if they were or are for sale, that a "hockey" company will buy them and not a shoe, or apparel company.

Nike bought Bauer for something like 300 million...maybe with Phil Knight gone at the helm of Nike and a new guy on board, he will want to make his own mark on Nike.

Lets face it, if you owned Nike would you be worried about a little hockey brand from Canada (or use to be from Canada)?

If this guy thinks big picture - he might look to unload Bauer. Nike bought Hurley and they are certainly seeing a better return on Hurley I would imagine...

But that is just one guys opinion...

sometimes a loss in the biz world isn't that bad..if they recently changed production locations,etc...its likely a bunch of amortized stuff...

I don't think Nike would be that quick to dump Bauer, especially with Reebok's foray into the hockey world ...

losing $ one year isn't the end of the world for these giants...

Yea i would be worried about a "little" hockey company from canada. Does the Vapor XX being perhaps the top selling skate ever ring a bell?

I would think that Bauer is just a little tiny blip on Nike's radar. The hockey equipment business is SO small compared to Nike's other forays, I think they'd be glad to get rid of a division that hasn't been nearly as profitable as it was when they took it over. Problem is, they won't get nearly what they paid for it. Bauer used to be THE brand to have, if a store didn't carry Bauer, they weren't in the hockey business. Today, stores can survive and thrive without Bauer.
