Nexus 1000 stick flex stiffness

Recommended Posts

Going to order a Nexus on myBauer when it becomes available and was curious about the stiffness.

Have been reading that it plays softer than a TotalOne? Is that true? Or is it really that noticeable?

My ideal flex so far has been a 77 flex TotalOne for about the first 8-10 games or so of it's life, then it starts to break down, and then break in the middle of the shaft after about 15 games. So I had to go to an 82 flex as that would obviously get too expensive. Hoping the elastech solves this issue. So I'm wondering what flex I should get the Nexus in? 82? Go back down to 77 and try my luck? I prefer a bit more whip than not enough.

Thanks for any input.

I usually buy the 77 flex for Bauer and love it. I had it on a couple one95's and x60's. I picked up a 77 flex Nexus and have had 4 skates with it so far. It feels too whippy. If I bought another one i'd definitely go up in stiffness.

I have a question regarding the flex of the total one nxg I want to order on e from mybauer and my last total one I got the 67 flex and It felt too soft so I wanted to try the75 flex intermediate and I wanted to know If it felt more like the 77 flex senior or like the 67 cut down to the 7( flex mark. If this post doesn't belong here I apologize feel free to move/delete

Based on just giving the nxg a little push in store (placing my top and bottom hands where it would be on my cut total one), I felt that it is stiffer than the total one I have (intermediate, 67 flex cut about 2.5" off so ~75-77 flex I think).

I have found that it does play a little bit softer than my T1. That said, I am 6' 0" and 170 lbs and am going to give the 82 flex a try just to see how it compares to the 87 I usually use. I'll try anything to make my shot quicker and harder.

I'm just going to bump this topic instead of creating another one.

So I've heard numerous times that the Nexus line plays softer than other sticks. I am just curious as to how much softer. For those who have used a Nexus how different would you say it is? If anyone can compare it to their DT1 or one95 that would be great since those are the last two sticks I have used.

I had one for a warranty for a day or so and gave it a flex. Seemed pretty easy to bend but it was uncut and it wasn't during a skate. It was their 87 flex btw.

In my experience with sticks the flex feels from stiffest to lightest has been:

Apx

Dt1

Widow

Nexus.

Do note though those low kick sticks never feel as flexible as a mid kick one .

I've had an APX, Nexus, and T1 NXG in the past 3 months. The Nexus feels stiffer than the APX and softer than the T1 NXG...hope that helps. I'm 6'5" 220 and use an 87 flex with a 4" plug so I like whippy, for me the 87 Nexus isn't too whippy.

Gotta agree that the Nexus plays stiffer than the APX but softer than the T1/NXG. I know they've all got different flex profiles but I've played with a variety of different Bauer sticks and my general impression has been that the you'll get the biggest kick on slappers with the T1 but the Nexus is a good all around stick and works great if you're more of a wrist shot/snap shot type shooter.

Although I disagree I will offer this. When I used my apx I never took many if any slappers or snap shots, all wristers. I know the stick has the intelli-sense flex point thing going on that's supposed to change depending on the shot so maybe that gives my hands a different feel.

But also to me, in general, all mid kick sticks seem much easier to flex then low kick ones.

I think the nexus is a bit softer than the apx and nxg my reason for this is last year a player on the team I work for got nexus twigs because he was going through apx sticks like crazy so we got them painted as apx I have been useing them an the 107 flex I thought was stiff but manageable untill this year he went back to the apx I got one an cant use it it's a board dousnt flex at all.

Most reports I've raid say that the APX plays stiffer than the Nexus, this is the first time I can recall reading someone say it is the other way around.

I've got a 60 flex SE16 and a 67 Nexus 1000 both cut to the exact same height, about 51 inches standing straight up. I can barely get any flex out of the SE16 on snappers and wristers, while the Nexus gives me pretty decent whip on both types of shots. Regarding slap shots, mine is non-existent, however, I've been able to crank a few w/ the Nexus.
