Nice Shoulder Pads

Recommended Posts

I've been using the Bauer Vapor 10 shoulder pads for a few months now, and I can't stand them anymore. They are much too bulky, and, lately, have hurt my puck control (as well as my overall agility). I'm 16 now and as my style of play revolves around my ability to out-manuver the opponent and control the puck for long periods of time, something has to be done before I make the jump to one of the area Junior teams next season.

I'm looking for something light and mobile. Obviously, protection is also a bit of a priority, but not nearly as much as the other two things I am looking at. I really feel unstopable when I am fooling around without my shoulder or elbow pads on, and I am really trying to get as close to that as I can.

Thanks boys...

Have you tried the Nike stuff? Everyone seems to say it's great for that.

Definitely not the Jofa shoulder pads, though. Mobility is probably arou dthe Vapor stuff, but they're heavy as hell.

My friend has V-10 shoulder pads and likes the mobility, to me it looks like he has hardly any protection for his upper body but nothing to get in the way. However, he took a hit and the shoulder cap thing got dented in on the front and we can't punch it out or anything, which is kinda "iffy" IMO...I have Itech Tech Lite I think it was called from a few years ago..

If you can sacrifice a bit of protection, ok, maybe a lot of protection, try out the Sher-Wood Tradition 5030 pads. They're old school style, like Shanahan wears - major mobility, but less protection. If you don't play much defence, give 'em a shot, they're only about $40 CAD.

Look into the Koho 4420 shoulder pads, they're very low profile, very light weight, offer lots of mobility, and still offer a good deal of protection. The Itech SP50's are also very similar.

You should also check out the Bauer Classic's, they're real old school and offer tons of mobility with a decent amount of protection: http://hockeygiant.com/bauclscspsr.html

I used to use the Koho 4420 shoulder pads because I hate big bulky pads and they were fantastic, but right now i'm using the Sher-Wood 5030 Traditional shoulder pads and they're awesome, I almost feel like i'm not even wearing anything at all.

nike V-10's love them. No matter what you wear for shoulder pads you WILL take some hits that will still hurt here and there. I think there worth the mobility. I used to have CCM shoulder pads big and bulky.....lasted 1 week.
