As long as they have a mode where penalties are included I'll play it. I don't like how EA Sports is moving to this "hard hitting arcade style" game mode. They even ADMITTED to using ragdoll effects and post insane hits on their Facebook page.

I enjoyed NHL 13 and am sure that I will enjoy NHL 14. In NHL 13, you can do everything that the "NHL 94 Anniversary Special Edition" is pitching (no penalties/ no offsides/ no rules/ hard hits etc.), except the blue ice, classic soundtrack and the little star icon. It is pretty simple to get a game in NHL 13 with an NHL 94 type feel- just adjust sliders to amp up hitting, and turn off the offsides and all the rules that we used to turn off when we played NHL 94.

The closest guy to Roenick in NHL 13? Hmmmm ... Well, with my steroided up style sliders, I was recently giving my friend fits with Rick Nash coming down the RW when I was NYR, and then it got worse for him with Evgeni Malkin (who I also put on the RW). Gaborik was pretty nasty too. One might expect Crosby, Ovechkin, or Datsuyk to be the best, but I can never get anything better going with them than I do with Toews/P.Kane/Hossa/Brad Richards/J Neal etc.

Who do I expect to be the most Roenick'ish in NHL 14? I expect Crosby to be out of control, since he was #1 in PPG this year, but who knows? A guy like Evander Kane can be the next JR, since he is so explosive and a pretty strong player; we shall see.

The only reason that JR was so good in NHL 94 (Genesis) was due to the weight bug. Guys who were lighter had better hitting and hitting defense. Bigger guys (like Lemieux/ Neely/ Jagr) seemed to fall over if you just breathed on them. JR was a 172 pounder, with a big shot and great speed, and thus he was the best.

i'm excited too. i haven't purchased since 11, and i heard 13 was a slight disappointment compared to previous seasons, but ill probably play this.
