Ya I think that his NJ mask is too basic and it has been the same since he entered the league . I agree with you also on the Fleury mask.

I remember an interview with marty, and he said the reason theres flames on his helmet is because he thought he was going to be drafted to the flames. then after new jersey took him, he just added the devil symbol.

Actually, the origin of the logo on the forehead of the mask is this -

Brodeur wasn't sure if he was going to stick with the big club or be demoted to the Devils' minor league affiliate at the time, the Utica Devils (now Albany River Rats). So, instead of getting the Devils logo on the mask, he decided to get the basic Devils theme that was also used by Utica in the event he was sent there.
