Getting a new helmet, recomendations.

I'm in need of a new helmet for the upcomming year. I do plan on trying on multiple helmets just looking for a place to start and any recomendations.

My lhs only sells Bauer. Eventually I'll make it to a total hockey store or a diffrent rink.

My current Bauer I belive is the old before nike/bauer 5500. It's wobbly side to side and falls down as I start to sweat with a cage. I seam to have a narrow head, oval shaped skull and according to all manufatures charts I'm a medium. Hat size is 7 1/8 to 7 1/4 depending on how long my hair is.

Anyone got any recomendation? Just looking for a starting point.

7500 is the helmet equivalent you're in. The 4500 will be a little narrower. I'd also check out the Re-Akt / IMS 9.0. As far as other brands? From the sounds of it the V10 may be an option but other than that most helmets in that price range are wider. Really you just gotta try them on and see what works best for you.

I don't reccomend the 7500. If I get 10 helmet returns 7 of them are the 7500s. The padding can't stay glued in or the glue leaks into your hair. I'm a fan on the newer ims 9.0 or Reakt but that all depends on how it fits.

Have you tried on any newer helmets yet? If so how did they feel?

I do plan on trying on alot of helmets, I tried on the reebok 7k a while ago and was told it was to wide. I like the looks of the reeboks but obviously fit is the most important.

Any reebok that fits close to the Bauer 4500?

the 11k has a band that can help to fit secure, but ive heard some people have issues with the dial breaking.

another note on the 7500, i was at a large vendor annual sale and they had a whole section of these helmets, about half of which had pads hanging. needless to say i didnt even get to the try on step with that one.

Try on a bunch of different brands, they all fit differently. After trying on Bauer, Easton, CCM and Cascade, I went with a Cascade M11, it fit my head perfectly with no odd pressure points that I experienced with most of the other brands.

The reakt is great. Been using it 2-4 days a week for a year. I may buy an ims 9 as a back up. Fits similar. I tried everything on and these are great for my big head.

I have the same head shape and size as you do, and from trying on a ton of different models in various stores I have narrowed down my search to the ims 9.0 sz M or CCM v10 sz L, as these have been the most comfortable ones and the least wobbly side to side.

Before I bite the bullet on either one of them I feel the need to try out the ims 11 though. Anyone having any experience or impressions with this helmet so far?

Looks like it's gonna be either a Easton 600 xs or cascade m11 s.

The E600 is a nice helmet. Most of the same features as the E700 but a lot lower price and the hardware isn't integrated to the foam, so it should hold up better.

It's light too. I figure I'll try it on again in a couple weeks to make sure. Will my Itec shield fit?

The shop only had a medium in stock.... No large, like I usually wear. I could get my head in it. I haven't used one on ice, so I really can't comment, unfortunately.

I normally use a medium but this bucket the guy said xsmall was what fit. I should try the small beacuse I've noticed when i grow out my hair my fitted Cubs hat is too tight by 1/8 inch.
