Easton Mako 2 skate?

Recommended Posts

Another good question might be if Easton is going to continue their second line, which has the RS line as the incumbents, or if they are putting their full weight behind the Mako. Judging solely by the way they (mis)handled the RS launch, it would seem sensible to me.

I think Easton maintains the Stealth line. If they are intending to stay in the skate game then it would be foolish to put all their eggs in the Mako basket when they haven't pushed out anything in that line below the top level. Talk about making yourself a niche product.

But why not see what that consolidation can do? Unless they push their upcoming (presumably) skate line to levels of basic recognition (not expecting them to go full RBZ with a launch), they'll be Mako or bust. Nobody up here is carrying the Stealth line and the ones carrying Mako (us included) are sitting on static stock; they're not moving at all. All of the Easton skates I'm seeing that are being worn or sold are skates from their old lines. I've seen more Ultra-Lites in our skate sharpening lineup than current Stealth skates lol.

I don't know how the sales are in other parts of the country/continent, but if I were to guess...

Barely anyone is moving the top end skates. They (all manufacturers) have finally outpriced the market. That is all the more reason for Easton to maintain the Stealth line where they have lower price point offerings. One good sized chain in these parts only brought the Mako in on consignment.

do the easton protectlive line's do much business? locally I haven't seen much if at all. Seems like it collects dust in the stores. I am wondering what their next move for skates is going to be.

Are there going to be lower models in the Mako skate line or are they staying with strictly a top-end model?

I haven't seen anyone with any of the Mako protective stuff locally other than a couple pair of shins. I thought I would see at least a couple pairs of the new gloves.

We sold quite a few of the Mako gloves, they a have a great design and feel, both the pro and lower models. The other Mako gear not selling as well, a few shins.

Yea, I really like the Mako gloves. It has a hybrid feel, they are tapered but also have a traditional fit to them. I just can't get past what they've done to the fingers on them.

Are you saying that you like what Easton Mako has done with the fingers?

I think the vest like shoulder pad design would work well especially for youth players but have only seen one set in use locally. Too much cheaper closeout gear for kids already.

Anyone have an update on the release date for the Mako 2 skates? I had a pair of MLX skates that I loved and I'm wondering if I should go with the Mako or wait a bit for the Mako 2 is their not too far off.
