Best Feeling Stick

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm new here, wondering what you guys consider to be the best feeling stick on the market?

Any help is appreciated, I want a high end stick but I'm a newb and don't know much.

Jack

When I hear feel I think of that as that soft wood feel. On that case not many sticks have that. The first gen dynasty had pretty good feel but had the durability of a Wood sick. The new dynasty is to dense. Most modern sticks have that carbon fiber /fiber glass feel of dead and pinky.

Everyone's answer is going to be different. It's like asking what is everyone's favorite beer.

Now I'm Belgian so I can definitely have a word in that aspect! ^^

As far as the stick goes I agree, there's no "best" until you define what is "good" and what is "bad" for feel. Your taping job might even be the issue there

High end and newb, that's a great combination! You sound like me. My suggestion, find a clearance deal on a pro stock pattern. You could walk into a high end stick for about $100 (instead of the $250 range for the latest twig out there). Case in point - I got my first high end stick about a month ago - Reebok Ai9, prostock patter H38 (similar to Iglina). I liked it so much, I ordered 2 more, which should mean I'm set for sticks for a few years. I've only broken 1 stick in 4 years of play and rarely take slap shots. I don't have the $ or skill / experience to go shopping for lots of other sticks to see if I like them better. As far I'm concerned the Ai9 is perfect for what I'm doing, and I can feel good about getting them for about $85 each.......

One of the stores around here has an equipment trade show once a year where you can go on the ice and try out the sticks. A lot like mod squad hockey does. That is the best place to try out the sticks without breaking the bank. Phone around you might get lucky.

Where & when? I think I saw you at duffer last week. I had the rbk 11k bucket with red inserts.

Ha! ya that was me. Sports Traders does it every year, give them a call. If not ask Kirbies because a lot of guys went to work for him from sports traders.

The last two years they did it at pearkes. Last time they did it was in July.

If you are talking about shaft feels, Bauer is the best in my opinion,

Most reebok and Easton's tend to have more squared off edges, where as bauers like the apx2 are more rounded, I just like that feeling better but it's a lot of preference.

I deal with a lot of pro stock shafts and sticks and I've seen and felt some weird shaft profiles.

Some as square as rectangles and others completely rounded to the point where you can't feels the edges at all, those are my favorite haha

I agree! I associate feeling with soft wood feel. Which is really hard to find. Trust me I am always searching for it. The softest composite sticks IMO were Bauer one95, Warrior dolomite and Easton Se 16. Both Bauer and warrior were a bit blade heavy though so I leaned toward Easton se16 which was better balanced but the blade never lasted. Since those sticks it's been hard to find a stick with great feeling. I have tried many and Bauer Nexus 1000 has been the best to me. Very Light, Balanced and good feel. No pingy feel like many others.

Sorry guys I should have been more specific, I've always played with wood, especially when I was a kid growing up I always loved playing with my dads because it was really stiff. I remember never wanting to play with my own because my dad and uncle's were much stiffer. I really loved the soft wood feel though! I haven't had any luck finding a composite that would feel like the soft wood blades I was used too.

Someone said sherwood might be a good option, is this true? I saw one of their sticks at Canadian tire and they said something about true touch feel.

I really appreciate all the help guys, I'm hoping I can find a stick that feels great when I use it.

I love the STX prototypes feel, it is not released yet though

Are these the same folks that made my beloved Laser Hi-Walls way back when?

Yes, it's the same STX. Recently brought flex technology to lacrosse in their Alliance series, so one could presume that some of that technology has been transferred to these prototype sticks.
