37.5 Technology in hockey

Recommended Posts

With my Elite Padded Girdle, S/S training shirt & APX2 shins; I stay relatively dry, but not bone dry. The advantage I'm experiencing is that I'm not sopping wet like I am with traditional base layer or shins.

Another good example is when I lift; I sweat a lot and tend to use my sleeves to wipe off face sweat. The 37.5 training shirts are always absorbent and feel fresh, unlike other shirts that basically just move the sweat around and feel like they've absorbed all they can after a good 15-20 minutes.

I got the 37.5 long sleeved women's shirt based on people's good experiences with the 37.5 technology. How is it supposed to fit? I've seen other MSHers call it a compression shirt, but it doesn't feel like a compression shirt at all. It's a rather loose. In the Bauer catalog, they call their fit "hockey fit" (err, whatever that means). I followed the Bauer fit guidelines, so I'm sure I have the correct size.

its a wicking layer, however I am happy enough with the bauer stuff that I haven't even thought of trying another brand just yet.

Nope. Especially if it's not wicking.

  • Anti-odor and moisture-wicking properties

*shrug* The original Bauer stuff was moisture-wicking too, but the 37.5 is what wins me over. I can't imagine spending money to try something that may not be as good.

I finally got an email back from Bauer after a month. Regarding the fit of the 37.5 shirt, they say: "This shirt is described as having a Hockey fit. It will be body skimming and not compression, not loose. If you prefer a tighter fit, you may want to try a smaller size." That matches the impression I got from looking at the pictures of athletes wearing 37.5 shirts in the Bauer catalog. It looked semi-fitted but not compression fit.

Sounds about right. I have an older vapor shirt that I believe they would classify as fitted, it's pretty much compression or close to it in the arms and gets slightly looser in the shoulders and the torso but still not very loose. I freaking love the fit. UA and Nike also have a similar "fitted" type of coldgear/heatgear I believe.
