New sticks?

Recommended Posts

I've recently joined a men's league here after not playing for about 3 years since my last actual scrimmage. I've played competitively for about 17 years and all my equipment seems pretty good and comfortable but I feel like my sticks are too stiff.

I have two reebok 6ks 100flex. But they are the old ones they are probably 6 years old they are two piece.

So I saw this mystery bag on hickey monkey and was thinking about doing that since I haven't really kept up with all the new gear and stuff. Should I just risk it on the mystery?

I find it pointless if 1. It will break your bank to buy a new stick if you absolutely hate the ones given to you and 2. You know what curve you like. If neither of those are the case then go for it. I personally think its a great idea for beginners that have a little bit of money to blow.

P.s wasn't calling you a beginner, i sorta meant it for potential people viewing this thread that may be also asking this question.

If you're a newbie it's not a bad idea since you haven't settled into a curve preference anyway. But beyond that I wouldn't bother.

Well right now my curves are a modano. Anyone know the specs on this curve or what curve today is similar?

pm9 for bauer, p42(?) duchene for ccm/reebok, e4 for easton, w01 lupul for warrior, and p96 bouchard for sherwood.

I'd look at getting a previous season's $99 price point on clearance in 85/87 flex. Probably on sale for about $79 now and with coupons can find for around $50-$75. Sticks like Warrior DT4 LT, Reebok 24K, Bauer Vapor X80 or Nexus 600.The curve you have is pretty tame and not bad to get back into the game. Common curves are the mid-toeish P92/E3/PP26/RNH/W03,etc and the mid curve P88,Hossa/P40/w08/etc. Sometimes you gotta take a risk and try something out and go from there.

Thanks for all the advice guys and I spent days looking on sites and there were some good looking sticks out there but I can't try any out since my local rink is lacking a good pro shop.

So in the end I took the gamble on the mystery pack after reading some reddit reviews and getting a random curve isn't a huge deal to me since I'll only be playing in a men's league. So I'll report back when I receive them. Should get them Thursday or Friday of this week.

So I just received the conformation email from hockey monkey and they tell you what sticks they picked out for you in it.

So I got two pretty good sticks I think...

1. Warrior AX1 Clear. 100flx with a burrows curve

2. CCM Pro Crazy light 85 flex. With a Talbot curve
