Dev10251 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2015 I was curious if anyone uses intermediate sticks. I've been using a senior 85 flex stick but found that it hasn't been efficient so I decided to make a switch. I went out and bought an Easton Stealth 65 flex. I felt an immediate difference and like it much better. Is it a good fit for my size? I'm 5' 8" and 150 lbs.
boo10 323 Report post Posted August 14, 2015 Your physical size has absolutely no bearing on what flex you should use. It is determined solely by shooting mechanics, along with how much flex you like when passing, stick handling and battling for pucks.

I'm 5' 8" and 150 lbs.Lots of threads on here about stick flex and using intermediate sticks vs senior sticks, etc. With that said, I believe stick flex is specific to the person and not a one-size-fits all formula. The type of flex that's best for you is determined by many variables (weight, height, strength, shooting mechanics, personal preference) Also, keep in mind, stick flexes across brands vary quite a bit. (i.e. I find an Easton 85 flex to be much whipper than a Bauer/CCM 85 flex)The user Jarick has a really good post on guidelines of where you should begin if you have no experience with stick flexes. I believe according to his guide, you should be experimenting at around 70-75 flex, taking into account your physical stature. This is just your starting point. Then from there, you just gotta try out different flexes and see where your sweet spot is.You just gotta experiment. I'm 5'9" & 170lbs, and I've tried a range from 70 flex to 100 flex (in senior sticks), and I finally found my sweet spot at 85 flex. (so the half your weight thing did actually work for me...heh)

Zorlac 22 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 At about 5'9" and 165, I use a 65 flex cut about 2". Easton RSII sticks...love the action!
bwhockey17 12 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 I'm around 5'10, 140 and I can't use anything lower than a 85.. I'm not a fan of the whippy feel, and everything I do is much, much better when I stick to 85-87.
