mattleitner 2 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Hello all!I buy and sell on eBay regularly as a source for making extra cash, and every now and then find good deals on gear for myself.I saw a pair of Bauer Vapor 1x Skates for a steal, and purchased them. They were listed as New, and that the buyer had purchased the wrong size for her husband..hence the reason for the sale.Upon arriving they looked great, but then I started to realize they have a few things off..1. There are no size tags on the Tongue (They fit like a 10D..which is what the seller listed..so not too worried about that, plus the runner is a 288, which fits a 10D)2. The brass rivet is missing on each skate towards the toe, (if i remember right, there should be 3 brass rivets....only two are on each skate.)3. The skates were sent with an APX 2 insole (not super mad about that..just was off.Otherwise the skates feel totally fine..look fine..just kind of worries over the issues...maybe it could be me being paranoid..Fair warning to all of you, be careful on eBay!Attached below are 2 photos.Any input is GREATLY appreciated.-Matt
adam14 182 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Upload a picture of the box that might help, could be that this particular pair was a custom pair hence the riveting. Apart from that they don't seem that suspicious
Monty22 833 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Pull up the footbed and see if the size and a number are written in pen in the skate underneath it.
mattleitner 2 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 The box was just a Bauer Vapor box with no labeling about model or size (the red and black kind) , and under the foot bed it does verify the size is right. Now the seller states the story is that they asked their old high school hockey coach who owns a pro shop to get them a pair of Vapor 1X Skates....and that the coach gave them the wrong size....?I might just try to get a refund and ship them back....despite getting them for a good price, it's still too much money for me to spend on something like this...haha...Might try to get a good deal on some of the APX 2's still up there...I really appreciate the input so far Adam14 and Monty22
mickz 107 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Sounds like it was a custom ordered skate.
mattleitner 2 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 That's what I'm thinking Mickz...I got a hold of a buddy and he said it's probably fine...The skates seem perfect otherwise, and as I understand how skates are made nowadays people can't really assemble them and sell them as something else.Thank guys for the input! beerleaguecaptain 999 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 I'd return just because you are not getting the Speed Plate - one of the best parts of that skate.
mattleitner 2 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 That's true DK miller....but even if I bought the Speedplate for $50 I'm still about $300 under MSRP...haha
Buzz_LightBeer 973 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Like the guys said, sounds like a pro return skate. If they fit, I'd opt to keep them.

fbvnyc 12 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Ridiculous deal. Would be a steal even without holders
EBondo 233 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Sounds like a pro-return/custom deal. I'd definitely keep them. Kinda regret not getting the 1X's when we had the chance to purchase them through an EPP. Got my Jetspeeds, and love them, but absolutely loved the feel of the 1X's. 60PlusWinger 82 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Custom skate I'm pretty sure. I have custom Bauers and if I said I didn't want copper I won't get copper. I can even pick the color of my eyelets. I've seen a lot weirder stuff on customs. I've never heard of knock off skates, sticks on the other hand are a different story
MThockeydad 469 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 Pretty sure they're fake. The fact that they're only 1" tall should be your first clue. And you have tiny hands. (Nice score, I'm jealous!)
evor1 6 Report post Posted September 2, 2015 hows the fit on them compared to previous vapor skates? im thining about buying a pair that i found a deal on. same size as my x60s so wondering if itll be okay to just buy without trying
mattleitner 2 Report post Posted September 3, 2015 Mthockeydad,You're right. I haven't tried them on yet and was really disappointed to realize they were small. What a good observation. I don't know how I would have made it through the night without your input. Thanks though! :DAnd they feel great Evor 1. For now I can notice they are lighter than my APX2 skates, but it's hard to say what else is different as I have only laced them up and stood on them, and they have the stock APX2 foot beds in them..haha..still need to be baked and sharpened! Otheriwse they feel extremely similar to the APX2's!
